The grey one looks more modern. I'm increasingly convinced that Pentax plan to reintroduce this lens. I love MF focus lenses with their nice focus feel.
It looks really sexy.....

But also the following lenses, which are *not* DA 35/2.4 or DA 35/2.8 Macro Limited lenses (the knurled rings are different):

Any ideas as to which lenses these might be?
Based on the size of the front elements it is most likely a macro lens. A 50 perhaps. It could be a zoom lens of limited speed and range as well.

New 50mm macro makes sense, hopefully it would be WRed, like the new 100mm.
But we have *two* lenses there, and I can't see any zoom rings on them... They don't 'look' very fast or very wide...

To me, these 3 lenses are the same, with something added around the barrel for those behind.

The front is the same, with quite the same lens diameter and topology (except for the added barrel).
The base is the same, down to the green line.

But what are those barrels for???

EDIT : well, I stand corrected...
The front lenses have the same pixel size on the picture, but the barrels are diminishing due to the perspective.
So I'd say they are prototypes based on the DA35 2.8, with greater aperture, 2.4 and 2.1 maybe...

Anyone knows if the DA35/2.8 share the same optical formula as the FA35 and the DA35/2.4?
EDIT again : nope, the DA35/2.8 is different.

Perhaps some could establish a contact with this guy and ask him where he took these images.

I only know about the Takumar DA 40mm... Since you already have the name down you probably googled it already
Takumar-DA 40/2.8 AL Limited
That was actually a special edition for the AP anniversary edition camera and only a very few of them were made and they weren't available to the public. According to Dimitrov, only 1 of these bodies (based on the K10d) was made. It makes me wonder how many of the lenses were made.

According to a chinese forum, one of the suspicious prime is a prototype lens of DA 35mm.

I guess they are both the prototype of DA 35mm/2.4.

So, don't expect new lens the near future.

You choose a lens to borrow and return it later.

Why simply re-issue the A*/135 without AF?

For the same reason as reissue of the A 50/1.2 perhaps? I don't think Pentax could sell enough 50/1.2's or 135/1.8's to justify developing a new lens from scratch.
Reissuing an old lens saves developing cost and the prices the classic lenses are fetching on e-bay suggest there might be a market for them. After all, Zeiss sells manual focus lenses. Some actually prefer them due to their smooth focus feel. I certainly do and hardly use AF for anything shorter than 200mm.

When was the last time Pentax released a NEW manual focus lens?
A very long time ago. All the NEW lenses released back from the *ist DSLRs have all been AF lenses.
Only the A 50mm f/1.2 remains available for sale currently and as we all know this lens was first released way back in the 80s.
So I do not think Pentax will ever release a new manual focus only lens anytime in the future.

Just like my friends that work for Roush, there are many cool things that will never see the light of day.

Although it is fun to try to get Autozone to help on a production made turbo V6 Ford Focus.

I'd be on board for the 135 manual focus lens. If it were WR it'd be a gem indeed!

The 1,8 135 looks like one of the Militarylenses made by Pentax for the Japanese Army.
They are ordered a couple of Lenses,1,2 50,too.

Best Regards,Andy
