Pentax should keep it at the same price until they stop selling out. Then, when sales are slowing, drop the price by say $200. I feel $1400 honestly is the fair price for the camera and it should stay at this level for awhile.

Yup guys, make sure that if you order though BH (instructions in my signature), you shoot me a PM, as you'll be able to get free site supporter status assuming you followed the instructions.

Just PM me 24 hours after your order, along with your order number, items, total, and date, and I'll be able to credit your forum account

Body only is sold out

I am trying to get the Pentax K-5 body only from B&H and it is sold out. Also I am not seeing that the kit is 1649, it is 1749. If the kit is 1650+, I am ready to get that.

Also could someone tell me where to get a 77mm limited lens? Both B&H and Adorama seems to be sold out this lens (or not available)

I got the Pentax K-5 body

I bought it from Abes Of Maine showroom in Edison, NJ. I got a better price ($1495 for body only). I am also able to pick up a 77mm limited lens (Made in Japan). My other 77mmlens was given to a friend as a gift.

Was that the advertised price in the showroom or did you work the price down? They have it listed at $1599 online.

The advertised price is still $1599. But I went to the showroom (mainly for getting the 77mm lens) and checked the price and they told me that it is $1495 and I bought it.

I have been a regular customer for Abes. I would rate them as good as B&H (or may be better). Since I live in Edison NJ, I wish to support the local stores like Abes.

For internet purchases, they offer free 16GB SD card with K-5 purchase.

Ok, it's back @ B&H & Adorama. Still listed as out of stock @ Pentax USA.

This was the worst possible situation for me. I can't stand going to either of the retailers on a Friday morning or Sunday as they are mad houses those days (moreso B&H). :ugh:

You beat me to that discovery! It's now up on the homepage. Also, I've created a dedicated K-5 forum

$1,485.99 now on B&H. A step in the right direction--still high imo, but I don't know if I'll be able to hold off.

Edit: I just ordered one.

Congrats!!! And that's all I needed to hear. I stayed in my place in NYC nearly a week longer than I planned, but the cheapskate in me kept me from buying it @ msrp today as the price was showing this morning. ....I'll be there early Sunday to get mine!
