That is quite odd, at first the K-5 would be released as a kit first bit the frst ones were body only. 18-135 was to be released as a kit with K-5 first as well...

On a related but different note.... for any coming to NYC and thinking of doing some buying. Adorama is a much better place to buy lenses than B&H even if you pay a little more IMO. B&H will only let you demo what they have on display; Adorama will bring any lens they have in-stock up and let you try it out. @ B&H the salesman says "if you buy a lens you want a new one, you don't want to buy one someone else has used, do you?" "To which I replied "I'm sure I have. <grin - hey, they tout their liberal return policy... am I to believe those aren't re-packed and-sold?!> Hey, I own a Pentax, so used lenses come with the territory. ". The salesman giggled. But still, it left me unable to try the 70-200/2.8 HSM II out before I bought it, and discovering it doesn't work as well with a Pz TC as I'd hoped. ...anyway... looking forward to owner's reviews. This might turn out to now only be my 1st WR lens.

Looking forward to your impressions. I have to admit being a little skeptical, given the price point and aperture speed. Maybe if it were fixed f/3.5...

Yup, here's the adorama link: 21977 Pentax SMCP-DA 18mm - 135mm f/3.5-5.6 AL (IF) DC WR (Weather Resistant) Autofocus Zoom Lens for Digital SLRs.

I've ordered one already, getting it Wednesday. Looks like 3 have been bought by PF users so far, unless you guys aren't clicking the link

If you get the impression that Pentax pre-announcements are being increasingly made at market hype inducing times, solely for commercial gain convenience, and that they clearly have absolutely no intention or capacity to meet an initial demand that they created, then you're not alone.

Nikon pulled similar insincerity stunts of pre-order then extended non-delivery with their D7000.
The whole industry needs to be reigned in before this bullshit goes too far. Consumers deserve some honest treatment for their loyalty and money.

Could you please expand on that in a post in the lens thread?

still two left...

I think, IMHO, that that number si a bit made up... If you say you got fifty and then say only five left, I tend to think they tru to attract the "wannahave NOW"crowd..
They probabbly have a few more samples...

Yep I'm guilty buy not clicking the link, but I sent them a note to credit the buy to the Pentax Forums. Same thing happened a few weeks ago with B&H and they changed it for me.

Availability in Canada

Derrick Costello, owner of Newfoundland Camera Imaging in St. John's, says he'll get this lens in for me at the beginning of December. Apparently he received an e-mail from Pentax Canada saying that the latter will received the lens at the end of November.
