I'd like to have a ~20mm f/2, a 30mm f/1.4, a 85mm f/1.4 and a 135mm f/2 ... all as DA*!

I voted for the 85mm 1.8 because I take a lot of portraits and Pentax doesn't have anything in that range, that fast, or that affordable. People like recommending the FA* 85mm, but it's no longer in production and used copies are expensive. That leaves the 77mm, but that's still too rich for me.

My vote is for the 18-300mm 1.4!

Wait a minute. . . .

In all seriousness though, I think the most practical would be to bring back the FA 50/1.7, but a fast yet reasonably affordable portrait lens in the 60-80mm range would be great, too.

I'd love to see the 28, f/1.8. Pentax needs a normal, fast, and affordable lens. With the crop factor the field of view would be 42mm, just 1mm shy of a true normal lens.
Although I would not object to a bit slower but touch wider 27/2.
(Until then, my FA 35/2 is here to stay.)

well, I voted 28/1.8 but I don't know if they need it.
With 31/1.8 the fast normal is there albeit on slightly higher price tag...
Ideally 24/2 (2.8) or even the suggested 100/2 wouldn't go amiss

I voted 28, but I agree with other posters that a 135 f2 (or faster) would be my choice.

If I could choose the next 5 lenses to be made, they would be, in no specific order:

All DA*

They would all be large and expensive, and they would command much more respect for the Pentax line up. We don't need more cheapo primes.

I fully agree !
Pentax currently has very little fast glass, and nothing at all beyond 300mm.
No more cheap plastic lenses please!

Has to be that classic "nifty fifty" 50/1.8(1.7) size: very inexpensive, not fancy build, but excellent reliable performance.
That hole needs to be filled asap. (Would make a great compliment to the 35/2.4 too.)

Like the majority here I'd like 28/1.8 too but Sigma (for one) already offer a decent 28/1.8 at pretty reasonable price range.
440109G Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro AutoFocus Wide Angle Lens with Hood for Pentax AF Cameras - Gray Market
Though probably it's big drawback for many is that it's not compact enough, 77mm filter size and hefty at 83x80mm and 480g.

That one's apparently an old FF design though. Yet how much smaller really could a crop-dedicated 28 be, and still be that fast?

WEll, considering that the 31 LTD is a FF design and is much smaller than the Sigma, I would think that Pentax could make a crop-size 28/1.8 much smaller than the sigma FF version. I would also see 1.4 though, and don't care much about cost or size.

or bringing back the 135 f/1.8 as a limited
Those things would be kinda big for a ltd. DA* would work though.
