Can we please have a reissue of the K55 1.8? I don't care if it is in plastic. It would KILL the plastic fantastics of the competing brands, and be a killer portrait lens.

28mm Prime. We need this lens, PENTAX needs this lens, The world needs this lens.

Yes, I second that. On digital 28mm basically fulfils the same role as the 'nifty fifty' used to do on film.

I am currently using an A28/F2.0 - I love it but an autofocus version would be nice.

DA24/f1.8 limited

None of this slow 21/f3.2 stuff, nor plastic 35/f2.4 stuff.

I want to see PENTAX make a low-cost 50mm f/1.8 lens in the double Gauss configuration, just as Canon and Nikon do.

This is what I expect:
"smc PENTAX-D FA 50mm f/1.8" - US$129.99, plastic body, metal mount, with aperture ring (like the Nikon 50/1.8)

I would jump on this in a second. My roommate just got the Canon 1.8 50mm and I'm so jealous of it I have been searching for a 50mm 1.4 A or M series for my K-x.

Just buy the 50 1.4 and be satisfied .

I'd go for the 28/1.8 to fit best between my 10-20 and 50. I would want a DA* (or otherwise weather sealed) version, though, so we're probably talking upwards of $500.

the 28/1.8 is winning by a landslide.

Won't a DA*/WR 28/1.8 force the FA31 ltd into retirement?

Probably not a bad thing as it's expensive, bulky and the lens hood is way too small for digital. It was designed as a wide angle for film use - not as a 'normal' lens for digital.

Hey, such a lens with a Nikon, Canon, Zeiss or Leica tag would go for twice the price at least.

I own quite a bunck of lenses and this one is really special with a FA43 not far from it.

I really think that Pentax should not retire this design, maybe making a weather sealed D-FA31 with updated coating (which would go for a few hundreds buck more), but certainly not putting it away.

You can buy one aftermarket, so nothing to be worried about. And personnaly, I was never bothered by flare when I wasn't looking for it (when I didn't put the light source inside the frame)

Why does everyone want sealed primes? Wouldn't it be much more practical to use a sealed zoom... you won't be able to change lenses in an environment where WR is helpful!
