Adorama High ISO All Stars - K5 and 645d made the cut

adorama high iso all stars

Well done - not often Pentax has this much presence in a "best of" list!

Still interesting to read the comments comparing the Nikon D7000 to the K5: "So, if both cameras (pentax k5 and nikon d7000) offer near-identical performance in low light, what’s the advantage of the Nikon? The Nikon provides entrée into Nikon’s extensive array outstanding optics, and its smart i-TTL flash system." Ok... Pentax has quite an array of outstanding optics too, and while most would agree the Nikon flash system is superior, this type of question wasn't asked in a way to favor Pentax either. Pentax clearly has some advantages over the D7000, but the author chose not to highlight these rather just talked about the advantages of the Nikon. A bit one sided...

Also, I felt the APS segment was a bit truncated. There are a wide range of aps cameras, and only three were chosen and all are above $1300. Missing the entry level standouts in high ISO is a mistake, I think. That's where the bulk of buyers are so I think Adorama missed a chance to help most of their customers choose among the more affordable cameras.

All in all though, it's nice to see that Pentax is getting some attention for the right reasons.

on the compact, I think they forget about the Panasonic LX5.

But anyway, it's definitely to see the K-5 is on the list.

I held a d7000 today, it has nothing on the K-5, ergonomics are terrible.

Even I tried the Nikon D7000 today, I didn't like the way buttons are placed on this camera.

Why in the Hell would they favor a company they hardly make any money off of? They survive on Nikon and Canon sales. They have no incentive to tell the truth.
