Seems to me next year will be EVIL year for Pentax. No full frame till 2012, if then. Will be interesting to see how Hoya handles EVIL. Is there room for a in-camera motor and still make the camera smaller than the Kx?

The other thing is new lenses. The only thing left on the road map is a telephoto and maybe that will get taken care of this year. The other thing that could telegraph full frame would be some middle zoom, 24-80 f2.8 with real ring motors.

don't worry, the MILC cam of Pentax will have a strong USP ;-) ... different and interesting features I think (although I am really not a fan of MILCs)
What the heck is a MILC? The only MILC I know of is the Milk Income Loss Contract. Somehow I doubt that's it.

Speculation time :)

I still believe that a FF next year is possible. It's either that or a MILC. The fact that no higher grade lenses have been released the last two years (?) is to me a sign that Pentax are waiting for a expanded D-FA line covering FF or is happy with K-mount line as it is regarding pro grade and goes mirrorless.

Speaking of FF; isn't sony due to release a new FF soon? They need someone to share the sensor development cost if it's true that Nikon manufactures elsewhere

Don't know. I feel that for EVIL / MILC to work, a new lens range needs to be launched at the same time. At least for FF, there are already a lot of lenses out there already; Sigmas DG range for example, as well as Pentaxes DFA and FA lenses.

I think it is Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera. I prefer EVIL.

Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera.

Much better than Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens, which is misleading for viewfinderless cameras.

I remember a rumor that a new flash was in the offing for springtime. Has anyone heard anything regarding this? I am going to be in the market for a flash in the next 6 months and would prefer genuine pentax but it looks like the metz 58 is the best bet at the moment if the pentax 540 is flimsy and unreliable.

I would buy a well built (would WR be asking too much) to slot in above the 540.

Pentax will have to get their poop together so they are ready for the upcoming K30d full frame that will be announced at CP+ 2011. Some of the things I would like to see is some more fast lens offerings. Things like a 28mm f1.4, or an 18mm f1.8. Maybe even an 85mm f1.4, 135mm f2 and a 24mm Tilt-shift!!!

Sadly though, with Sigma ending production of the long primes in PK mount, it's gonna be tough to sell Pentax as an outdoor camera. Let's face it, if Pentax really wants to be seen as an outdoor camera they need to produce some long primes like a 500mm f4 and an 800mm f5.6. A 500mm is a standard for wildlife photography. I have also always wondered how one can have a camera geared towards landscapes and the like and not have at least one tilt-shift being offered.

This just goes to show how incomplete the Pentax lineup is. I can understand Sigma or Tamron dropping Pentax support on many of their more expensive lenses as there isn't enough of a market for them to warrant making them.
