That'd be one huge lens though. Can't have it all...

Looks entertaining. If the lens comes through it will be interesting to see where the pricing slots in compared to the 12-24mm.

I had to laugh when I read the google translated version of the patent info.

"To say what standard zoom and a high zoom , the wide-angle enough angle. Pentax 12-35mm lens is so new, standard angle and even covers. Most if it would be good command of standard angle. Tokina brand also released if, Nikon , Canon, Sony users also delicious and the lens."

12-35 = 18-50 for FF.

But...Pentax has a lot of lens patents. It could be real or it could be unreal lens.

Looks like a pretty useful range. I'm a bit excited if it pans out.

When many are waiting for a 10-16/2,8, or a 8-16/4, Pentax doesn't go below the current limit of 12mm, open only to 3,5, and ramp the long part up to 35 to overlap more with a normal medium zoom.

I guess we'll see it soon...

Not to open a big ol' can of worms, but really, who needs f/2.8 at 12mm? Granted, 35/4.5 sounds kind of useless, but this is still a very interesting lens! I hope it's going to be somewhat affordable.

I agree! If this is at least close to the sharpness people claim the 12-24 to have, I will buy it.

It will probably be expensive....oh, well....one can live with just one kidney, right?

Nice Lens I'm Sure, But .....

I already have a 12-24mm and use it for architecture stuff. Had to buy a Tamron 10-24mm because I wanted a wide with little distortion (very good lens, BTW)

Wish Pentax would come out with a 8mm or 10mm to 18mm to 24ish f4, that would be awesome !!!!

12-35 would be a very interesting lens. I find that I often bring my DA40/M35/A28 along with my Sigma 10-20 to provide a little more reach.
(And does this open for a DA*10-1x instead of the current 12-24?)
