A DA*135/1.8 would be welcome. It will be faster than the DA50-135 and better.

A DA*28 or 30 f1.4 would be a nice weather resistant normal lens.

A *8-16 or *10-16 would be great .... the *12-35 does not float my boat. I had to get a Tamron *10-24 for my wide stuff.

Love the wide angle stuff ;- )

Hopefully I could see the official announcement soon, because I just lost my Sigma 10-20mm in ShangHai in early May and might purchase another 10-20mm if I couldn't see the 12-35mm released soon...

Pentax should start making DA* "revision 2" lenses with truly reliable motors. Pentax could sell itself as rugged and reliable, but the perception of SDM reliability ruins that image.

Yes!!!! Any of those two would do. Variable apertures are no fun... and I certainly feel jealous of those with the wider field of view... but not to the point of ruining my image quality with those (10-xx) from Sigma and Tamron (I tried and returned them). Didn't get my hands on the Sigma 8-16mm though.

Lens design is always compromise. Making this lens faster would make it bigger, heavier, and much more expensive. Why do that, when the camera can handle very high ISO gracefully?

I agree for such lenses. But it is true that Pentax should offer faster glasses, specially primes.

I was expecting a DA* 11-16mm f/2.8 along the lines of:

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 AT-X PRO DX AF Lens - Canon Fit (TOK120) - Warehouse Express

If Pentax released that, I'd be sooooo tempted to invest.

I've seen a lot of talk around "why f/2.8?" - an ultra wide angle at f/2.8 would be a sensational astronomy lens (thinking milky way shots, star trails etc.). Plug that into a K-5 and you've got a superb combonation. Here's an example of the sort of shot I'm talking about:

Additionally, I would expect a DA* 11-16mm to be super sharp much like the Tokina, only with weather resistance for harsh landscape conditions.
