* Regarding sensor: yes exactly 12Mpix in both D3 and D300 not more Mpix for the APC-S than the FF. And even then those who only look after resolution will not care the heck about the D3. Market for the D3 would be bigger with more Mpix. Sad but well...

* Regarding Pentax AF: Yeah I think AF in low light and AF in interior (like family shots) are big problems. I often do about 0.5fps and loos quite a couple shots because my 16-45/4 is sloooow to focus in those conditions.

Yeah, high vignetting and poor edge sharpness. The FA Star 24 f/2 problems in those areas will certainly be even bigger on 24x36 digital than they are on film. Well, 24x36 may come from Pentax in a future flagship tailored to the professional landscape, wildlife and portrait photographer, as a less expensive option to 645D, but not this year and probably not even next year. It takes time to make new lenses, and Pentax has problems even with releasing lenses for the APS-C system... I'm sure Hoya can help a lot here, but Rom wasn't built on one day.
Patience is required.

What I am looking forward too, is a camera quite much like today's K10D but with enhanced features and performance. Perhaps Live view, improved AF algorithms, new multisegment metering exposure system with custom options for exposure bias, white balance with more memory settings, 3-memory User-setting, improved P-TTL flash logic, 100% viewfinder (or at least 98%), 4-5 fps, 1/250 flash sync, 1/8000 shutter, tested for 150 000 exposures. Priced below Sony A700 and Nikon D300. Time will tell...

Spec an electronic shutter in the sensor and give us up to 1/1000 sync. Nikon D70s can do it.

Why just catch up to the competition with 1/250, why not surpass it it would be a great strobist camera. I think thats a good feature. Pros with Canon 1Ds dont need to care so much about that, they have the money for powerfull lights and assistants to carry them. But for us others it would be nice to overpower the sun with just a 540fgz flash.

What I'd like to see is a very compact camera... DS size/weight being the limit not to cross.
Something like the small Olympus (e410 I think). It would serve as holliday body or for my wife.

Personaly I can give up SR if it is needed for the small size but of course if they can maintain the SR that'd be better.

I slowly take conscious that while the K10D is really very near how I would make a camera myself, it is somewhat large (but really I'm not complaining) but quite heavy when using it like in holliday or for a little walk. Paired with a 18-55, 50-200 or 18-250 there's really no need for a handgrip (excellent BTW, especially with the battery grip) like the K10D provides.

Let's Pentax make a K1000D the size of an e410

It's all BS.. Pentax publicly announced in Paris that they would NOT be using Sony sensors in the upcoming DSLR's.. Nor, will they use them in a 645D - That sensor goes to Kodak.

That does not make it any official. No press release... I have no reason to doubt what Steve says, but if you think this equals official words you're mistaken.

It's all just rumors and wild guess by some Chinese originally from PCPOP - a website full of similar rumors and guesses And this was actually written over 3 months back, just before the China Photo Equipment Show in Beijing in the end of June 2007 (I was there btw ). In the article the author was trying to explain why the rumored K20D wouldn't be out during the China Photo Equipment Show (but rumored otherwise) ...

I'm with the others, I'd rather seeing more lenses released instead of another new body.
Yep Frank - I had been waiting for my 50-135.I now have it and love it, but desperatley want up 250mm. Sigma 70-200 EX not available in Aus. 'til feb 08. Iwas told to wait and see until Photokina

Well..You know you could be right. It could be called the K20D, K11D, K'loggs, K (fill in your own name)...But there will be a new Pentax Up Market DSLR..Perhaps sooner perhaps later..But it will be quite the "little bugger" when it does come out.
I, for one, hope it is sooner rather than later!
