i shoot with 8x10 in mind

i use only 8x10 for my portfolio

19 MP would be AWESOME. As long as theres a little better noise reduction than on the K10D.

NDA

Ben,

Is there Any way you can narrow the announcement timeframe for us?

Please....pretty please

or are you under a non-disclosure....

The announcement of the two new P&S cameras was.......well......anti-climatic

I am under a NDA but am not privy to much of what goes on behind the scenes.

Thanx
Ben

Of course a model above the K10d is coming out. The Pentax CEO said so himself in an interview. And even if he hadn't, Pentax wouldn't just stop all camera development after the K10d success. So, they are definitely working on "something".

The only question is: when?

I'd guess that in typical Pentax fashion they've overestimated how quickly they can put together a new piece of equipment and won't have this K10d-replacement ready by Christmas. I'd like to be wrong, of course, but with the DA* delays and the K10d delays, I can say I believe Pentax has what it takes to work to such a deadline.

Maybe the new Hoya management can change that.

yes but I don't think bodies and lenses are made in the same factories.

If the manufacturing problems are quality problems (lenses for now) then I don't think it would influence body manfacturing. Now if they can't manufacture enough number of bodies, then maube it is simply called "success"?

I mean, Pentax can NOT (IMO) think that thell will for sure sell 200.000 copies of a high-end body. Migt be dangerous if they don't sell what they manufacture.

If you build it, they will come.

If Hoya start pushing out some serious Pentax mount glass, then I doubt there will be any problems moving the Pentax cameras off the shelves.

Think about the sales pitch, Pentax can be used with all the old glass and they are selling Pentax cameras. Now put a heap of new SERIOUS Hoya/Pentax lenses on the shelf and watch the feeding frenzy.

Think there going to anoounce the FF 19Megapixel "weathersealed" Proctoscope and really shove it to us... RICEHIGH will knock it's rear focusing issues. HOYA will be pleased as there is no competition......

Hello,

Some Nikon D300 samples Flickr: Search
I posted this because I think the same sensor is on the Sony A700 an may be on a future Pentax body (K10D successor?), like D200/D80/D40x, A100 and K10D/GX10 share the same sensor.

Well it's possible. But I doubt there's going to be any confirmation on what sensor may be used in a possible next body, when Hoya/Pentax can't even seem to confirm that they're interested in continuing to exist as a camera company.
