Well, I haven't seen that particular roadmap before, and it's obviously pretty recent. Very interested in the non-macro 35mm and the 300/4.

55-300 is a new one... roughly equivalent to an 80-450.

if your name is SupremeMoFo....well, you must know right?

dear lord, please let suprememofo really be a suprememofo. because if he is then that means this is a new roadmap. and you see, god, there is a 645D lens on it.

amen

Actually there isn't much new in the new roadmap except the newly announced DA18-250. And they did removed the releasing dates from the old roadmap for the DA*200, DA*300 and DA*60-250. Probably would take even longer to see these lenses (if at all)

For a comparison, the new roadmap:

And the previous one:

Well I guess since the lenses have been delayed so many times, they thought it was better to just remove the targeted availability untill they were really sure about it.

One thing for sure, we didn't see the DA*200 and DA*300 in Sept 2007

Can't argue with that

Well if this 18-250 does come to market this month then at least I take that as a sign that they are still working and still putting out new stuff, so thats better than months without anything.

They are working, that's for sure but to what end ?

Furthermore this lens qualifies hardly as "new stuff" since they just bought it from Tamron.

Pentax is probably going through the same agenda as every company with a new owner. They are re-evaluating each project through a new perspective and that will certainly mean the cancelation of some projects but could also mean the start of new ones.

Since no one on this forum knows for sure the new angle Hoya is taking on this, all we can do is wait.

As for a replacement of the K10 that some would like to be announced, may I remind them that the K10 was announced less than a year ago so, if we follow the fastest renewal pace (the one from Nikon and Canon) the replacement should be announced around february and available around june 2008.

Frankly, I'd rather not see a new K10-like camera every year, that would spell the end of firmware upgrades and lead to a lot (more) defective products.

My only concern so far is the total absence of communication (commitment?)from Pentax top management regarding their strategy for the years to come: this is usually not a very good sign as there is nothing that the markets hates more than silence.

A lot more deffective products? This is a harsh statement to say the least.
Those kind of comments sure won't do anything good for people buying into Pentax. Moreover this is totally baseless and unjustified.

Sorry if I came across harsh but English is not my native language so...

I meant that, usually, throwing out some new product at a faster than reasonable pace results in big problems in QC.

So basicaly I'm not saying that we have "a lot of problems" now but that increasing the pace would results in "a lot more" problems.

Probably a misuse of parenthesis... (I use them too much anyway ).

Am I making any sense?

Shame, because I was really interested in that 35mm macro limited and the 55mm f1.4 DA* lens.

Oh well, guess I'll just keep on waiting.......................
