@Rondec - Losing DR with increasing ISO is a physical property of every digital sensor. Max DR will always be at lowest ISO.

Of course, this is true, but full frame sensor hold on to their dynamic range a lot better than than APS-C sensors do. So, a Canon 5D Mk II will shoot at DR of 9 stops up to iso 1800, versus up to iso 1100 for the K5. I am just trying to figure out the reasoning for docking the dynamic range score of the K5 when it scored so high on Dxo Mark's tests.

Take a look at the "Dynamics range" graph at DXO. K5 is about equal to 5D II at 800-6400, but the K5 wins under and above that iso range.

The K5 is a great camera, but it does apply some noise reduction, even to RAW above iso 6400. I'm really not picking on the K5. As I say, I'm just trying to think of the thought process behind not giving the K5 a 9 or 10 for dynamic range, when there isn't much better out there, short of a D3x.

And howcan they give anything else than 9 or 10 for dynamic range? OK, they could reserve 10 for the few full frames that score higher than K-5, but at least 9.
Which camera has more dynamic range than a K-5? Not one exists: at any price.

Also build quality - how many better built cameras are there out there in the enthusiast market ? Should also have been a 9 or 9.5.
Well there is that 'stain' issue. Also the Delete button fell off of mine last week (never use it anyway.)

I picked up the Nikon d700, Canon 7d and K5 before buying and there is no doubt that the K5 was the most solid camera of all in both look and feel, and way better than Canon 60D. In fact, I'd say it's build quality was up with the Canon 5d mark II level, except not the size of a brick!
