Some new Pentax Patents

Went through the US Patent Office today and found some interesting stuff. Here is what they call a conversion lens, maybe a teleconverter but looks more like the 70 limited with the hood attached to me. Guess "conversion" means something other than 70mm limited lens?

And this one is a Single lens Reflex camera, which strangely looks familiar. 645D anyone?

I don't get the first two. Are they trying to protect the design of these items, so that no one can make a look-alike? I would ahve thought that the copyright rules would take take of that.

Yeah thought so myself but the the name doesn't fit with the design because I'm 100% positive it's the DA 70 limited and not a lens converter... We shall never understand Pentax shall we?

These were filed in 2006, 2005 and 2004.

True, but it takes time for items to appear after a patent is ok'd and I check the US patent office once a month or so and these are new since the last time I looked.

We have already seen mockups of the 645D and already have the 70 pancake. So who is that other sucker?

Check the filing dates Chris. The first one is Sept 2006 the other 2 were 2005. So indeed your guess is probably right on the 70 limited and the 645D. I wonder if the last one is for the 70-300?

Since somebody confirmed the Canon 7D via a upc search, I did one for pentax and look at what popped up. LoL

I would hardly call it a confirmation, since any one can contribute anything they want to that site, and it is highly unlikely that a company like canon would allow their new evolutionary camera to be announced this way.
