The point is I don't think it will utterly trash the 1Ds Mk IV, at least not so enough to justify the compromises and extra cost a person will have to make by buying into the 645D system. The next 1Ds will have a wider ISO range, better off camera flash system, faster autofocus, and a much more versatile lens system.
I'm not trying to put down the 645D, because it is an amazing landscape camera, and should in theory produce sharper images than 35mm systems even with the same resolution, but Pentax needs to seriously update their lens line up if they intend to stick with the cropped 645D sensor because when I look at it now I see the best landscape camera in the world, but not much else. There are simply shots you can make with a 1Ds using a 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, or 135mm f/2 that the 645D can't do because f/2.8 is no longer an ultra thin aperture when you take into account the 645D's crop factor.
