Yes, I wrongly expressed myself, I was talking about an AF bellow, or something of this shape instead of a simple TC

Yeah, true. But the anodizing clue makes it seem like it's got to be either used inline with the lens (anodized & black) or otherwise designed to blend with the camera.

Hmmm. New design of lightweight tripod? No need to make them specific to camera lines, though. No glass means it's not a filter or scope. No electronics rules out a flash or focus assist. You don't need that equipment to make a new design of shoulder strap. Hmmph!

BTW, fun thread to follow, regardless whether the announced product will be interesting or not... I happen to be a travel/wildlife/landscape photographer mostly, so I'm looking at this with interest...
Agreed. I'm in the same boat.

Seems the interest in this post is dying compared to how it started.

hmm, from the hints dropped, sounds like it may fairly low tech...I am thinking a"view-master" attachment for our cameras to get that retro feel going...

It's sounding more like an L plate or other mounting accessory that is fit to a body size/opening. It's the only thing I can think of that would need to be specific to a camera and only needs some metal work.

But an L mount it's not something new, and that one couldn't live without.

Downplaying the hype about not being able to work without etc, Asahiflex is probably on the right track, thinking in terms of what travel/landscape/wildlife photographers actually need.

A WR strong case tailored for each SLR model suitable for today's lunatic requirement not to bring camera bags onto flights into and within the US?

The points I find most interesting:
-CNC'd and they have access to a 5-axis cutter...so it may be one piece of metal
-Fabricator involved
-No electronics, no glass
-Studio photographers are probably not interested in it
-Not plastic, unlike (possible) existing products

All those leads me to believe it's a "field" accessory, built to protect a camera from abuse or give it an edge where no accessory currently exists. Maybe a metal "roll cage" for the body? Camera armor is already out there, but aren't most of them plastic? Do any protect the lens?

But then I fight with myself, because it's going to universal-ish and armor would be too individual...

One of my first thoughts...though aren't LCD hoods out there already? A tripod mount accessory of some kind is a definite possibility, IMO.

I'm thinking more along the lines of something that you use to transport the camera. To my mind, the padding would be the customized bit designed for the camera itself. But I see your point about the 5-axis cutter.

Then again, maybe the writer is just (and suitably) impressed with the nature of the facility at his disposable. I bet after watching a demo of that I'd be dreaming up ideas on using it all day long!
