This is about the new up coming GPS unit. It does something very goofy, depending on who you ask.
New GPS?...I think it could work with any new camera from Pentax

You still need new firmware to interface with the unit and incorporate the data.

What about a specific grip for lefthanders ?
Currently you can only use your right hand to take pictures.

No problem, they will just release a new firmware update upon its launch

However, if it just a GPS add on then im a bit disappointed, gps doesnt interest me for a camera.

If it's for K-7 and K-5 only, it couldn't be something that slide in the hotshoe, as that is the same of any other camera.

It must be something that either:

• attach below the camera, like a battery grip or something new that use the same interface with the camera
• Slide inside the battery compartment
• Is inserted in the focusing screen compartment.

Any other thing I fail to see how it can be "K-7/K-5" only related

It could be something new done entirely in firmware. But then it's unlikely that it would be released for the K-7.

Well, could be some sort of tethering attachment, too...

Maybe that new thing from HP where you can send your picture with 3G to your (or your grandmothers) printer while you are still walking around making that great shot, it already comes out of the printer.

That would be a cool thing to have.

Intriguing !
K5 & K7 will be the first, other brands will follow..
So, it's not the gps module.
Maybe some accessory for video shooting ?
A special video grip, with manual commands ?

Based on Yvon's wording it sounds like it is a 3rd party "something" which, for some odd reason, is announced in a Pentax version first.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the "something" is from the company whose logo he blurred and then added to the picture in the post:

If it's K5/K7 I would guess it's an augmented battery grip.

Following possible features:

- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- Fuel Cell battery
- SIM card slot and built in 3G radio (very unlikely)

The wireless feature could theoretically make use of an iOS or Android application.

Although in my opinion WiFi in battery grips is something that should be fairly standard by now in high-end devices.
