What if Hoya/Pentax...

I know it's a little far fetched but what if Hoya/Pentax release a EVIL camera compatible with Samsung mount?

They have worked together before (Samsung GX cameras, Samsung sensor).

It could be good for both companies.

Have fun,
Luis

If, for instance, a 16 mm just barely covers the m4/3 image circle, it certainly doesn't make sense to call it an "ultra wide" - it can only be used as a moderate wide angle regardless of sensor size.

Try to learn lenses hardware.
16 mm lens is ULTRA-WIDE lens. Any lens has REAL focal length.
Indeed, but the word 'wide' refers to the the field of view, NOT the focal length, so WILL vary with the sensor size.

Even at FF cameras lenses with focal length from 8 till 24 mm are ULTRA-WIDE lenses.
You're going the wrong way and referring to larger sensors - stick a 16mm lens on a cameraphone and see how wide it is...

There is standart classification of lenses.
Show it to us then - there's no ISO standard for when you can call something an ultra-wide angle lens... Marketing departments call things whatever suits their needs, and they think they can get away with

If we say about 16/2.4 - I can say that optical designers develop lens with 16 mm focal length. Not 24 mm at APS-C.

There was and there is undercover standart from film era for focal range. Not any marketing and ISO. It's optics laws.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal_length

For example, Bojidar uses old good standart - Pentax K-Mount Lenses and Lens Accessories

This is absolutely wrong!
Sure, 16mm is 16mm, regardless of the sensor size.
But it may or may not be a wide angle lens depending on the sensor size!

For example, a 16mm lens on a 1/2.33" sensor would be a medium telephoto lens! (85mm equivalent)

You may want to have a small system for general use (travel, family outings etc), but then have the option of using faster lenses as well. That being said, I would much prefer using a pancake lens on the K-5 for compact use, and the option to attach a grip for bigger lenses. These mirrorless cameras will never be comfortable to use with something like a 70-200mm f/2.8.

We say about interchangeable lens system and interchangeable lens system classification. Not about P&S
And we say about NX system now.

You should try something wider than 16mm (like 10mm) and then get back to us!

Oh may, well I just googled it.

Ultra wide angle lens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An ultra wide-angle lens is a lens whose focal length is shorter than the short side of film or sensor.[citation needed]

Thus the term denotes a different range of lenses, relative to the size of the sensor in the camera in question.

For APS-C any lens shorter than 15 mm is considered ultra wide angle.
For 35 mm film or full-frame sensor any lens shorter than 24 mm
For 6x45 any lens shorter than 41 mm
For 6x6 and 6x7 any lens shorter than 56 mm

This makes sence, not that the lens is a different thing, but as in the name it is about the angle of the lens on the camera wich you take the picture with. So for 645D is 30mm to be considdered Ultra Wide Angle. This is as I see it correct somthing about 50 % of the diagonal of the sensor/film size.

And I found this: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/how-to-use-ultra-wide-lenses.htm

I have the NX10 +20 & 30mm pancake and all I can say is that, so far, I am puzzled by the quality of the glass Samsung is putting out.

These are small, well made, affordable AND of excellent optical quality.

If the 16mm is of the same wood, I'll buy it as soon as it is out.

I'll also buy the 85f1.4, even if it's bigger (whos say's that Samsung doesn't have a beefier, more upscale model coming to go with these lenses?). The NX10 will make for an excellent portrait camera with it's very precise and versatile AF.

700mm? For the life of me I can't even imagine the look of it with a NX attached!

They should just sell it with a NX as rear cap!
