New Pentax "Brighten Your Holidays" DSLR rebates start October 18!

This has just appeared on the TriState Camera website. I suspect it will be on Pentax's site soon. The promotion dates are October 18, 2007 through 31 January, 2008.

Pentax "Brighten Your Holidays" rebate form

The new rebates offer $100 back on the K10D and K100D Super, but only as kits. A bonus rebate is available for the DA 50-200 if purchased at the same time.

There are also rebates on the 360 and 540 flash units, as well as on "Limited" lenses.

I was holding out for the potential of a rebate on the FA35, but no such luck. But the $100 rebate on the FA43 Limited is looking mighty attractive.

Yeah, that makes the good deal I thought I got on a 2 month old 31mm ltd Saturday look like less of a good deal. I paid $729 for the 31 ltd with a 7 year Mack Warranty, and I could have gotten it for about $719 after rebate new. Oh well, on the bright side I get the warranty and no waiting for the rebate. I should get the 31 tomorrow and am excited to not have to wait also.

Now, that 43mm ltd rebate is tempting.

That makes the Nikon D40X, Canon XTI, Oly E-410, and The K10D virtually the same price at B & H. That is an interesting marketing approach by Pentax. We can forget about seeing a new camera priced between the K100D Super and the K10D. I'm not surprised. $650 including the kit lens is a killer price. That includes a 2 GB card.

Regards,

Ken

Yeah, I've been thinking that for a long time. However, the "K20D" could be introduced at a higher price point, the "K200D" raised half a notch from its current place, and a "K1000D" or "K2000D" introduced at the bottom of the heap. Possibly with a "K1D" or "K2D" above them all, if Hoya decides they want to go the complete-lineup approach.

(Um, sorry to everyone who was hoping for a speculation-free thread. All the useful information you're going to get here was in the first message anyway. )

I wanted the 540 flash and the DFA 100mm... On the last rebate promo I would have saved 150 buckaroos, but alas the cash was not in the hand at the time. Now the dough is ready to go and looks like the Tamron 90mm macro with the 90 dollar rebate may be the choice.

Thanks pentax...

Although that 43ltd is callin' me-----------

What, no rebate for the 18-250? Now that would be a way to get a Pentax under every tree this year...

.

Thanks for the information and the link.

But upon closer reading (and comparison of the UPC code listed), I think the $100 rebate applies to body-only purchases of either the K10D and K100D Super -- purchase of the unspecified "kit" is not required. If you go to the Tristate site for the K10D body-only, moreover, a $100 rebate is indicated as available -- bringing the total to about (egads!) $599.

I guess we'll know for sure soon enough, but I think this was just sloppy drafting by someone in the marketing / rebates department.

Huh. That's unfortunate. Maybe we can get Ned Bunnell to clarify? Because as much as I agree with you from carefully reading the plain wording, you know how rebate-fulfillment companies are -- anything to weasel out.

K100D Super with the 18-250

You are right Finn. I still think they should have the K100D Super with the 18-250 and a combo rebate totaling $150. That would be a real Christmas special.

Ken

Well said sir. How about a rebate for those of us who need one because of the outrageous price difference

Here is a business opportunity for parallel import from the US to Europe
Just have to exchange the powercords of the battery chargers and pass the customers over to the manual download site for native language manuals.

Are there any US distributors listening?
