Sony to move to SLTs only

Sony have said that all future Alpha cameras will be based on slt technology, and they have suggested others may follow suit.

Sopvy have always made "big moves" when they want to define themselves in a competitive market, and this sounds completely typical. As long as they keep making awesome sensors for those with mechanical mirrors, I don't care...

I tried an A55 recently and was impressed with its compact design and handling. The FPS was amazing. EVF was very good. The pellicle mirror may give it a minor cost advantage, but it certainly keeps the camera quiet and fast. Overall, very good for a 1st gen new which is surprising for Sony.

This doesn't surprise me about Sopmy... I could have guessed it. But I don't see Pentax adopting this, at least for quite a while.

Ok, Ok, appologies for the spelling mistake, I couldn't change it once it had been entered :-)

It was to be expected, Nex and SLT's. I handled both for a short time. If Pentax goes that way then put in a way faster processor, since it's nice to have 10 fps, but you can't see anything.

Are they leving the Full Frame format?

I think this totally makes sense for them, don't know if others will follow suit though.

Another move by Sodomy [sic] that will likely only increase their already well cemented 3rd place position in the great race.

Hope so anyway, it's a platform that I covet for the (read: my) fotogfx future.

No one has put a FF on the market since 15 months ago.
