And the upcoming lens would be JALN* 200mm f/2.8?

I think that the name of the follow-up of the K10D will be called: Pentax JACN-1

Where JACN stands for: Just A Camera Name

An anouncement of JAFN-580FGZ release would be nice, isn't it?

K20 is a likely name i it is a replacement for the K10, however, if any of the specs I have seen are correct it is completly new camera, possibly with the same controls tough. In that case K2D coule be possible, but maybe it is time or a very short name such as LD. Looking at the alphabet; K,L,M -> K1000 KX etc -> LX -> MX -> MZ.

So my next camera will be Pentax LD ( I hope :-)

Trying to interpret those "signs" given in the first post I would try to speculate on the name of it: 'K20HD' ?

Why K20 at all? Why not K10HD?

Inded why not? Because people would think this just a little incremental upgrade when it is not.
That's my guess but it is the only reason I found against a K10HD.

Are we so sure that it is not an incremental upgrade?
Given.. it would be a large increment.

But can anyone really see them introducing yet another model below it? I suspect that the K100D replacement shall have the features and price to compete with the A100's, D40's, D80's and XTI's out there.

From there the K10D replacement is going for that market who are using the D300, 40D and A700.

The meaning of "LX" is 60 ( roman number ) because Pentax were 60 ( 1979 )

Well, at 2009 Pentax will be 90 ( roman = XC )

I think it will be a Pentax XC , what we (rumor) name K1D or similar !

XC like : extrem camera, extrem competition, compact, ......

Incredible brilliant idea, i never thought that. If Pentax will name that one next year, you shall be rewarded one unit. They must be.
But there should be D char over there coz others did it, at least nik and can?

What does the 10 mean in K10D? If the new camera was called the K14D, what would the 14 mean? How many megapixels is the new camera? 14?

Personally, I think the "KsingledigitD" would be a little too close to Canyon's cameras.

Of course, it's not a problem, photographically, but still, I don't want to be up for manslaughter after some guy casually mentions "Yeah, they're just trying to be like Canon. Even the names."

Not again, anyway.

Why Not

If it is good enough to use this for a lens name
SMC-Pentax FA* 80-200mm f/2.8 ED IF

then why can' t the new cameras be called

Pentax 10mp 3fps DLSR SR CCD
Pentax 14mp 5fps DLSR SR CMOS

Then K10D and K200D would have the same name!
