Pentax 600mm F4 -- is this a joke?

Just read from this site:

NEW Pentax 600mm f4 - Photo.net Pentax Forum

and of course, I am wondering if:

1. this has been posted here before - if so, please moderators, delete this thread.
2. this is for real.

I always wanted to see Pentax starting to produce some 400mm - 500mm "new" lenses but when I see a 600mm, what gives?
Why, if it is at all true, no "in between" (i.e.: between 300mm and 600mm) telephoto lenses.

April 1st...there does exist 600/4 for 6x7/67, however.

Also for 24x36. But as Pentax only issue 24x36 like lenses (like the 55/1.4, acting like a 85mm lens, even if only 85/2 equivalent in terms of dof), a 600mm means nothing but an april's fool

No I don't believe this. If there was going to be a new 600mm lens then it probably would be a f5.6 "budget" version.

While I'm presuming it's a joke, when you get to 300mm, 400mm and 500mm are much the same lens. I would hope the next jump would be 600mm...

Most likely a April fools joke, but one can always hope. My hope is a DA*135-400. Still a DA*500 or even a DA*600 would be nice.

that would be awesome.

However my Sigma 135-400 isn't far behind my DA* 50-135 in terms of IQ at all.

It doesn't. The difference between 300mm and 400mm is very, very small.
