Near Poitiers, in the Poitou-Charentes region, there are dragon warning signs in the middle of corn fields ...

OMG! Tall inviting plants over your head, you wander in to enjoy the cool, refreshing green, soon you have lost the horizon, you try to retrace your footsteps but you seem to be walking deeper and deeper into a dark, rustling mass. Then you hearing the hissing ...

Round here, we simply have spectral terrors like the Beast of Burford. I am sure a non-nonsense DA* 60-250mm would soon bring it to heel!

Them's fightin' words.

Everyone knows Santa lives on Canada. His sleigh is actually a Zamboni.

And what is on his Zamboni this year? (Just an attempt to return to the topic of this thread)

It's true, Santa's in Finland; there's a documentary about it on Netflix. Excellent and informative film.

I know RiceHigh not popular here, but he has posted of some rumors of K-3 being announced at the end of October or early November.
RiceHigh's Pentax Blog

Also the rumor suggests that the new sensor is 20MP APS-C.

Edit: Oh good news.. rumor also posted on Photo Rumors.. not just RiceHigh ;-)

Reading the source Japanese text, they actually say "On sale at the end of next month, announcement probably soon." 「発売は来月の末で近日発表になるそうです。」

If rumor is true.. I wonder why not 24MP? Sony only let them use 20MP?

There could be many reasons, if the rumour turns out to be true. I'd like to think the reason is that the sensor gives Pentax the best image quality, DR, noise performance et al from the current crop of sensors. Image quality, image quality: it's always one of the key metrics in their cameras. No mushy, noisy sensors for them even if they offer more mpx.

In addition, there are rumours of a high-res mode using some kind of shift system to combine several images into one high-res image, a kind of HDR I suppose for static subjects, landscapes, etc. The processing power required for that must be pretty scary, so I imagine there is a limit to the sensor mp-count they can use without the camera taking 45 minutes to process each shot.

Of course all of these points are complete rumour and conjecture, so who knows.

(No fantasists, confabulators, delusional dreamers or wazy-mazy men were hurt in the making of this post)
