All I have to say for Sony is Root Kit
Exactly what does that have to do with cameras or camera sensors ?

It defines Sony's corporate culture - pathologically unethical utter disregard for anything other than itself; unwillingness even to accept being caught out (the uninstaller actually installed more malicious Root code).

It pains me even to have a Sony component within a product that I like. I can only convince myself that Pentax passed muster on their sensor.

What if the K-3 april fool actually had some substance to it?

For example, it might have existed with APS-C sensor and a photo was leaked. Then Ricoh decided not to release it because they were not satisfied with the features (AF not being a significant evolution, no real sensor upgrade, incomplete flash system and whatnot) to succeed the K-5/K-5II?

Then someone only had to PS a FF mirror box image on the existing real K-3 image...

I think the K-3 April Fools joke was for a FF.

Early predictions for the K-3 were:

24MP APS-C
21-Point AF
NO AA FILTER
Improved AF speed
WiFi

Two years later Pentax is actually making it..... maybe...

I agree, one of the primary reasons I haven't worked with Sony hardware in the past 15 years is their blatantly unethical policies. God knows what hidden code is running on their tablet platforms - which already leak personal information like a sieve.

Ah, yes. That reminds me to refrase myself: I will never again buy a product with the Sony badge on the front of it. Sony products inside products I do like is a different matter. :-)

Maybe, but I can't believe Ricoh would use such a badly photoshopped photo. They must know that people would react like they have.

I am afraid this is not correct. 100% of Carl Zeiss AG belong to the Carl Zeiss Stiftung, i.e. a foundation.
Yes, thanks to correct me, actually the "Zeiss" ZA lenses are the ouput of a business agreement between Sony and Zeiss, without capital/shares exchanges.
