i don't need 10fps, perhaps a good oled would work, but i've yet to see one i thought even cam close to an OVF and that includes most of the ones currently out there
they all make me feel detached from my subject like i'm watching TV
but i'm a cantankerous old git

I can see a good oled being on the K-r replacement 2 or 3 models from now, but not the top WR body.

As much as I like the EVF on the GH2, it does have a bit of the "watching TV" effect. You get used to it after a while, until the next time you use an OVF.

If anything, the way photography is evolving, both the OVF and the EVF should be placed on the endangered species list. I bet that 1% of all cameras sold (including phones) include one or the other...

In trying out the NX11 I found focusing much easier with the LCD than the EVF, which very much had that detached feeling. This was exactly counter to my expectation.

Figures that each vendor is coming out with proprietary clip-on EVF's, too, instead of coming together on a standard.

when 10fps is the base level as a result when af is amazing...

the a55... is just the beginning.
I don't think 600+ dpi OLED is very far off. It will probably be a reality by the end of the year. We will see what the A77 has to offer or the SLT FF replacement for the A900.

SLT has the ability to combine PDAF and CDAF. There is no reason that an SLT camera can not automatically calibrate AF for a lens at each aperture and remember it.

I still prefer a good OVF, but EVFs are going to have a lot of very strong selling points.

I doubt it. I'm sure they will add more problems to worry about regarding electronic stuff to fail.
Hmm, that's what makes my LX so beautiful (it works without a battery for the faster shutter times). But I prefer the K10D still...

I am more interested in sensor stains, SDM failures and improved af being addressed. Then they can adopt a new slogan: "Fear the Mirror."
I read some good things about the Sony a55 - it is indeed a big step forward.

I have to but there are still comments like this coming out of reviews:

QuoteQuote:
Inevitably, the A55 handles more like a 'bridge' camera than a conventional DSLR, and in very general terms, the experience of using the new SLT Alphas is similar to that of shooting with Panasonic's G1, GH1 and G2.
I am also not convinced its AF for action shots can live up to its billing despite the fixed lens arrangement. Of course, this is the 1st generation of this hybrid camera so theoretically it will improve with time.

It's a several steps back... Semi-transparent mirror is yesterday's technology.

Sony A cameras lose 1/3 EV in lights and sensor is overheated in video and LV modes too quick...EVF is not impressive yet...
10 fps is 10 fps without refocusing. It's shooting to the one spot.

All these problems are not solved.

And i have Pixels in my Finder with that.

The best will be,a combination with real SLR System and Display in the optical VF.
Pentax owns a patent of this.

Wouldn't you like to use your vintage Pentax glass with this?

I think he is just saying that you start seeing the effects of diffraction at smaller apertures. Obviously it isn't a wall, such that you can shoot smaller than that, it is just that photos taken much over that will tend to look softer than those shot wider than that.

And how is that a problem, compared with lower MP sensors?
