Or USB and no WiFi. Keep the camera simpler.

Though how cool would it be to set your camera up somewhere outside and WiFi tether to it to take pictures?! Have a Hybrid VF so you could see subjects remotely on the tablet in real time.

Winder, jmg257, ...This is how they are doing WiFi on the Nikon D3200. They are using an optional plug in dongle that contains the WiFi electronics.
It also lets you perform some cool tricks like remote live view with your smartphone. pretty cool stuff.

The only prob I see with these dongles is that they're sticking out of the body connected only by the port which has delicate connections too. Accidents happen and dongles may be prone to breaking (along with the port). I find it better with the earlier suggestion of incorporating the WiFi in the battery grip. One would need more power, after all...

Or just make that Nikon dongle work on the next Pentax camera. Honestly, I don't think many people are going to use that thingy. It makes it cool and modern, but users aren't mostly.

The only real difference from a K-5, aside from sensor MP and double slot, is the AF sensor array, and I feel very unlikely that Pentax will shy away from the usual 11point Safox sensor.

the interesting thing is the msrp - $1799 - which says to me odds are the D600 will be 1999 -2199 (with lower build quality and less features) - not the $1500 floating around the rumours

Feature wise I would guess the K3 will be solidly in line with this model

I think the 11-point AF is the biggest weakness of the K-5. I really hope this is an area of improvement.

Looking at K-30 I guess we will see another 11 AF-points camera for the coming years.

I doubt the K-30 will be the flagship body unless Pentax releases a ff body. I would still expect to see a higher end aps-c. I would expect the higher end bodies to show something in the af area.

Why should the AF module in the K-30 be used in Pentax's top tier APSC model ?

Does anyone know if Pentax got to keep patents released under Hoya's name? There were a few related to new AF modules, including one with a 5x9 array (vs what seems to be the current 3x7 array).

Don't know, but surely that was part of the negotiations and at a minimum it's very likely Pentax has AT LEAST the authorization to use said patents. It's probable that they're able to use the patents without fee and I'm guessing the rights to the patent went to Pentax rather than Hoya.

It makes sense for both parties that the Pentax patents go with Pentax. From what I've seen they're more 'defensive' patents than 'offensive'. I could definitely be wrong, though, I don't read Japanese.
