After 23 RAW of K-5II - you should wait from 30 till 40 seconds (depends on SD card) and can't shoot at all.

D7000 could shoot with speed 1.5 fps and clears the buffer for 9-10 seconds.
We can expect full support of SDXC with increased transfer rate on the SD card

With the K5 you can continue to shoot even if the buffer is full but it drops the FPS to about 0.8

And if the camera has cleared the buffer slightly you can continue to shoot at full FPS again till it's full again.
0.8 fps is almost no shooting

In your experience, how long does it take for the K5 to completely fill it's buffer and starts to shoot at that 0.8 FPS?

Of course, I know the answer, and in my opinion 7 FPS is equally usefull as 0.8 FPS if the buffer is as tiny as the K5.

I just posted this, wonder if the K3 sensor is this one (and NOT the same sensor in the D7100):

Sony SLT-A58 [20.1 Exmor HD CMOS] (??Maybe K3 Sensor??)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/indepth/sony/news/new-sony-releases-slt-a58-nex-...ID=6867

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/216591-sony-slt-a58-20...k3-sensor.html

----

As "@Na Horuk" noted via a link, it looks like the D7100 sensor is a Toshiba sensor.

So in short: I can't imagine Ricoh very active recently with sony (the II and IIs sensor) and jumping ship to an entirely new vendor so quick.

So the K3 we could be looking at a 21mp camera...

+1!

I find that my K-5 often is imprecise in very low light (e.g. outdoor night scenes), and if I have something with reasonable contrast to focus on I get better results with CDAF. That's where AF improvements would help me too, I don't have a very urgent need for good tracking AF. That being said, I think that the K-5 is a very significant step up in AF from the K10D.

(In addition to better camera AF it would of course be nice if the 16-50 replacement from the road map is a better lens with reliable silent AF...)

The Sony NEX-7 replacement is coming soon. I tend to believe that the K-3 will have that sensor in it. I think we are looking at 24MP or more at this point. Unlike the A58, the K-3 will have to have a 2-3 year cycle. With the Canon 7DII having 24MPs I don't see Pentax going for less. They know they can use a 24MP sensor and still out perform the Canon 7DII.

"As tiny"? I'm sure your Canons can shoot more than 1000 full-res 14-bits RAWs, before slowing down

Well I made these last may with a max off 1.0 fps and that didn't look like no shooting at all

My trip with Pentax 645D!

Having a faster processor PRIME III and USB 3.0 would be great in a next camera. A larger buffer can help, but having a faster framerate with AF-C would help a lot.

IMO a faster overall operation would be a good thing (and I expect that, from the next PRIME).

I would like to see active WiFi so that as I am shooting in studio the images are being sent to my computer or even an iPad for viewing.

Is that a previous generation K-5? If so, I sounds like many here believe those low light AF issues have already been addressed in the current models.

Very long since i've never filled the buffer of the K5, i don't machine gun.
You say the buffer is tiny but which cameras have a larger buffer then?

Your above statement contradicts very much with your below statement. How can you be so sure in the above statement if you yourself claim that you don't have any first hand experience in this?!?!?

He doesn't say he doesn't have any experience. He just says that he doesn't use continuous drive mode very often - or hasn't for a long time. That's not the same as never

Well i did say i never filled it and i never did during actual shooting, of course i've been playing with my camera with things like this so i know how it behaves.

For you to fill the buffer you need to press it for 4 seconds, that's a very long time when you try to capture a moment...
I do shoot in burst of 2 or 3 frames and that can also fill the buffer up quite a bit but it has never hit the limit this way.

but.... which camera has larger buffer as the K5 since you're saying it's tiny?
