Hmm...ok......last information was,out of production.we can not order any more the FA Limted line since 2 month.
But,we will see how out the production is.
In the last time, were the informations a little unsave.
Will see,can ask again next week.
Needs only a short phone call.
But,it looks like real out.
I am very careful about rumors in forums like this ... however, Pentax really lacks glass especially fast primes like the fa ltd. If the stop production of these lovely primes and don't announce equivalents (fa ltd wr or da* or ...) I would be really disappointed!

I'm going to be pretty ticked if they discontinue the FA Limited line without suitable replacements (i.e. DFA lenses similar to what they did with the 100mm Macro.)

The Limited lenses are pretty much the only thing keeping me with Pentax right now.

My 31, 43 and 77 are all brand new lenses from new batch (AIV). The 31 was preordered and i recieved it from the latest batch, this means the lens was produced just a month or two back.

If production of FA Ltd was ended, it was ended very very recently, like this month!

Do you know the timewindow of Prductionrun and selling/shipping?
How long and in what for timearea the lens is in production?
Stocklevel and sellsmove?
Nearby, the complete Olympus Lensline for 4/3 is out of production but you can order all lenses.
They only starting some production when the orderlevel is high enough.
Same with the E-5.No continue production of this Body.
approx.10,000 bodys are produced
But you can order one.
Not easy for the most shops to get one,but we can order.
My last question about FA Limited Order is weeks ago and the answer was,NO.
Maybe in Hamburg or France a little on stock, maybe not.
We will see if it is a complete stop or only for this and next time.
But today,no FA Limited is the production run.
Will ask next week if it is still the same condition.
Best regards

Can you not ask whether the stop is final or not?
Maybe Pentax does not know either?

If previous "out of production" rumours/messages were based on the fact that the lenses are temporarily not produced then that explains a lot. IMHO it is very misleading to tell people that a product is "out of production" with a "discontinued" connotation when there is only a temporary stop in production for whatever reason.

I'm with others: The FA Ltds are the main reason to stick with Pentax. If they discontinue them then there will be a lot less incentive to stay loyal.

Yes, Pentax makes great bodies but the Nikon D7000 is not to bad of a K-5 clone. And it doesn't have sensor stains, low-light AF issues, residual shutter blur, flash overexposure issues, and shutter that sometimes get stuck and requires one to slap the camera hard to get it unstuck again. I guess it comes with its own issues that I know little about (hot pixels?), but if Pentax discontinued the FA Ltds, they made a mistake, AFAIC.

Even if the discontinuation means they will be replaced with modernised versions that cost a lot more, it will be a mistake. If I want great bodies with super expensive lenses, I'll go Sony + Zeiss glass.

I don't understand. Once you have bought the FA Limiteds does it matter to your shooting if they are made any more? The ones you own do not spontaneously combust.

Hopefully it means that Pentax has been working on updating some of these lenses with improved SDM, newer coatings, and faster apertures. There have been a lot of improvements in glass and coatings since those lenses were first put into production.

They have had a production life long enough that there are plenty of used copies to be found for people who really want them.

Do you?

I had my lenses preordered, 31 and 77. They were out of stock and was expected to be delivered by Pentax USA, who also was on backorder. When stock dates are "unknown", and this i know, the suppliers are waiting for new stock, wich means lenses are either being produced, or shipped out from factory stock

This was back when i ordered mine, how the status is today... well... i dont know because im not looking out for them anymore .
When i did, i was calling and e-mail'ing all sorts of people just to get an answer about when i could expect to have my lenses. All answers then were "stock is on its way".

If someone told you "No", well Zack.... thats your words

Not a generalization at all .. there's no 'l' in the Japanese syllabary. Of course, there's no 'x' either and we've already seen K-x.

Didn't we already hear that the small MILC's going to be labelled "Q"?

Unfortunately I cannot confirm that. I keep looking on ebay in several countries and so far could not find a silver FA 77mm. People seem to keep it.
