It's 52.5 lens, perfectly suitable for group portraits.
Do you really think that focal length is enough too make portraits...

Wow, is this a joke? When people say "micro-contrast," they mean the graph on the MTF chart corresponding to say, 30 line-pairs per mm. By "macro-contrast", they mean the graph on the MTF chart correspond to say, 10 line-pairs per mm.
It's new information for me.
MTF30 means micro-contrast.
MTF10 means macro-contrast.

New word in the optics. It's really funny to say honest.

How sad it must be to live in Ogl-world

ogl, .... get some sleep.... then tomorrow, go outside and take some photos.
I takes photos every day. I say truth - nobody like unpleasant truth.
DA18-135 and Q system are rubbish. For last 3 years only two really new lenses. E.t.c
But I'm not sad. I just state the facts and nothing else. Realize it.

Don't think that you're clever than anybody...I say just about term MICRO-CONTRAST. No such term in optics.

Exactly, they bought only the imaging division, and for the reason that it includes high-end products they don't offer themselves.

So, 20 years ago you decided to stop learning?

I love photography because it teaches me so much. I learn new things every day. And by the time I know everything, all the new developments will force me to learn again.

Just to echo what others have said about the DA 35 limited, it is an excellent lens. It is quite sharp, edge to edge, and of course it offers macro possibilities as well. Obviously JSherman's thread on the DA 35 has been going for several years with periodic new entries -- not all macro shots either.

I understand, Ogl, that you want new lenses, but why you insist on running down the existing lens line up is beyond me. Numbers don't tell the whole story, photos tell it better and there are some nice lenses in the Pentax line-up beyond the FA limiteds.

35mm macro is a great piece of lens, indeed. Besides, just think how well will it perform on my next kick-ass body!

Just trying to bring the topic back on the rails..

I still can't understand why someone would buy a macro lens when fine details aren't relevant for the photos to take. It's just a waste of money. If you don't need a macro, don't buy one.
That's why I don't have it. I just wonder how many people here like this stuff.

The DA35 Ltd a waste of money? Only in your world.
For me, it's a fantastic lens that makes my photo hobby much more fun.
