Change just to be changing isn't always good either, aka teacuppery. I don't think I'll try square tires anytime soon. In reality, this situation isn't so much about change but the concern about the risk of an orphan mount however small. It isn't about terror, its just a camera so if it does endup orphaned, I'll stick to K-mount and 6x7 for film like have done for the most part, and for digital I wold eventually move back to Nikon, Oly or maybe even Sony. In the event which I thinks is unlikely but possible that Ricoh moves to another mounts etc., I want reward them by buying up lenses to replace my DA 21, 35, and 40 Ltd and DA* 300 in whatever mount they were to contrive to replace it. My F 28, FA 50/1.4, FA 77 ltd and D FA 100mm will work on af film bodies. That said, I think it would be a dumb thing for them to do, because if people are hesitant to by K-mount, the sure as the devil won't be so quick to put their trust in some unproven cup.
