My K5's label states:
Pentax Digital Camera
Hoya Corporation

I'd expect any new product coming out of Pentax to read:
Pentax Digital Thingumabob
Ricoh Global Corporation

On the other hand, had Apple or Microsoft bought Pentax, I'd expect the Pentax brand would promptly disappear for the sake of oneness with the force and model designations would be changed accordingly. Apple would come up with likely names such as MacCam and MacCam Pro (FF Sensor). Microsoft on the other hand would have the same group of "genii" who came up with the Bing name to come up with spiffy camera models such as Clixster, EyeSpy, and OhSnap! (FF Sensor). :-)

It is no coincidence that both Ricoh and Pentax brand logo are red (not sure about the font types). Ricoh will likely use the Pentax brand to their advantage to move the Ricoh digital consumer cameras such as GXR etc. I think the K-5 or next model will have the Pentax brand name with the division of Ricoh corporation tag.

Ask an average Joe (or Josette) on the street what the brand "Pentax" means to him or her. Mostly likely response would hopefully be "a camera" ...

Then ask what "Ricoh" means and maybe you would get "a photocopier" ...

Next what "Canon" means ... oh, let's just forget it whole thing! Merde!

It'll be like Yashica-Kyocera, I suspect, with Pentax leading Ricoh.

No shame in the Ricoh name of course. Anyone who used their XR-7 SLR can confirm Ricoh knows what it's all about.
