My Dodge Charger 1970 wouldn't say that.

Well we do have larger back screens these days and implementing them changes the hole backside off the camera. It is kind of big, but no idea to what extend it can made smaller, keeping it's functionality.

Those pictures are maybe from an old design, but not anything from rescent time.

Run that Japanese link I provided through google translate and you will see that the K-1 was promoted in 2000 for release in 2001 but never happened. It is based on the MZ-D prototype or the other way around.

Very cool...

Flickr: schaft9's Photostream

First of all, samples from the Pentax Q and pictures of a transparent one:

A pic of a digital auto110 prototype!

And... a few photos of the very only 24x36 Pentax DSLR: the K-1...

I wonder why comparing this very new Pentax to a 10+yo old prototype... It would more sense to put close to a K-5 or a 645D.
I think with a little freshening up, the K1 (Actually the D1) would still be a great looking camera. Hope they do it!

Cheers,
Cameron

The thing would run on a Philips CCD sensor, but that wasn't any good. I have seen it before, but it pops up from time to time, with a little designchange (photoshop) to keep us warm and happy (before we realize it is a fake).

I love the first seethrough Q:

I don't know why people that have seen the MZ-D or the K-1 prototypes from the 2000 photokina etc. would be tricked by any photoshoping. Frankly, it is plausible that anyone with a clear Q prototype and working Q prototype prior to its release would have access to the k-1 prototype. I suspect the K-1 prototype has a Kodak sensor though.

That sounds like something I can believe!

Neither the Japanese, nor anyone else are going to sell the MZ-D anywhere. It was a prototype that Pentax built before the *istD. It was announced as a real product, I believe, but it never went into production. That's why its not in any online databases.

It was based around a sensor that turned out to be lousy. Contax used the same sensor in their first digital offering. From what I've heard, this sensor is the reason that Contax is no longer producing any cameras.

I believe that that picture is, in fact, the MZ-D and someone has photoshopped it to say K-1. This is interesting, because, as far as I know, no one outside of Pentax has an MZ-D to photograph next to a Q. Secondly, why would Pentax even want to photograph a Q next to a failed prototype. I can understand why they might want to photograph it next to a K-5, to show how small it is.

As far as the transparent Q goes, Pentax has a long history of producing transparent cameras, as showroom displays. I have seen transparent ME's and Auto 110's. I believe there were transparent SF1's. They occasionally show up on ebay and go for astronomical prices, at least for Pentax's.
Very true. I am amazed that the MZ-D is around a Q.

Now, if the MZ-D is now being called a K1 and is coming out of the shadows, my mind starts to spin!

The MZ-D *almost* went into production and had a full frame sensor. Could it be possible that the MZ-D will come out of deep freeze as a full framed K-1?

Has an available sensor finally been matched to the R&D that was the MZ-D?

If this is the case, it would be a home run for Pentax as I would go out tomorrow and buy a K1, knowing the history that took place for the K1 to come to market.

What a cool story if that were to come to pass.

i really find it interesting that the person that posted these pics has chosen to show the "digital" 110, and then the finished Pentax Q, along with some of the clear demo Q bodies.

THEN, they show the "digital MZ" , now marked as a K-1, along with a Pentax Q.

The K-1 mark looks like it is on the MZ-D body, and not a photoshop job.

I am assuming that only someone in Pentax would have access to the old MZ-D, as well as the 110-D prototype, and the Q clear bodies.

So is this Pentax telling us that if the 110 ->110D (prototype) -> Q progesion has happened, maybe they are now working on the next big product release?

Is this Pentax spilling the beans about MZ-S -> MZ-D (prototype) ->K-1 (digital FF)?

FF FFS!

If the Q and the 110D was true, the K-1 would probably be coming too, but maybe not in that design.

I'd believe this if the 110D was possible. I don't think it will happen because they won't get another system (m43? Q-mount?) and aps-c 110D would not make sense, or?

But why show the Q with a k-1?

In one of the pictures you can see a big Pentax logo so it's most likely taken by someone at Pentax, but whyyyyyyyyyy

This is interesting. Can a new 110D (with a larger sensor then Q) have a Q-mount but with a longer flancedistance. So the lenses for Q fit on 110D with an extensiontube, but the 110D lenses don't fit on Q. Or is this a strange idea?

Just a random thought!

Maybe better to make it Q-mount if it's possible to get an adapter to old 110 lenses. It might even be a better idea making it Q-mount without support for 110 lenses because, how many would actually use old 110 lenses with it?

The 110d could use a slightly bigger sensor than the Q and share lenses. Why not? A higher end camera for the Q system.
