Sorry, I have to disappoint you. Sharpening AND conversion to monochrome and red filter still doesn't produce any noise. I did find a tiny spot of dust though, it was easily blown away.

I would seriously consider sending your unit in, if I were you.

No, his copy also doesn't. He's just anti-Pentax... clearly seen by his post history.

Reading through his post-history, I have to conclude that you are right.

He's a forumtroll, isn't he?

I admire your ignorance, I hear it's bliss.

I second the vote to remove the Nazi-flag inspired avatar. Tasteless and pointless. Like many of your posts, I might add.

If Sony or Samsung decide to stop providing sensors in order to gain bigger share in the camera market, Pentax (and others) will have to look in other sensor makers like Aptina - that has never been the leader in sensor innovation (and prefer the mobile phone market as the ROI is much more tempting). A situation like this will probably render the brand uncompetitive.
...and why would they want to do that? Selling parts like sensors is a business; almost certainly far more profitable than selling cameras to consumers.
Not to mention that such behaviour would spoil the companys reputation as a reliable parts supplier and open the marked for others.

As far as i know, the sensor business is extremely capital-demanding.
Therefore, the volumes are if any, THE key success factor for this business.
That is why we will/should see for a long time, Sony sensors on other DSLR brands.

This is why Samsung is under a lot of pressure to make sure their new sensor is a really strong competitor. They need more buyers to keep their own cost down so they can continue to grow their NX line. Samsung has been aggressively marketing the new sensor. There was a rumor floating around a couple of months ago that Olympus was looking at Samsung as a possible supplier for 4/3 sensors.

That is not fair comparison. We already know that Sony has poor jpg output, no need to humilitate them by comparison with K-5.

IMHO, this forum is no place for such "artwork"
Simple solution:
My Account > Edit Options > Thread Display options > Visible Post Elements > Show Avatars > [Untick] > Save.

I do this for all the vBulletin forums I subscribe to. Can also speed up viewing considerably, especially if animated avatars are allowed on the forum.

Actually you're right, enlarging to 300% view I can see a faint noise. But seriously I would love to know which camera does better? My K10D sure had noisy skies visible at 100%. But nothing that slight NR couldn't remove anyway. I can recall the D300 being also criticized for noisy blue skies. As I understand blue is always the noisiest channel, surely why high-ISO under tungsten is always noisier than in daylight.

P.S. I agree with others that your avatar is just tasteless.

speaking of computing power I am lucky enough to use world's fastest super-computer now a days. (off course not for image processing though, but if i wish i can always develop programs to do so :-D ).

Interesting - a 'K' mount supercomputer. Pentax must be able to use that.

Not only the name, but also the location - the Kobe Riken Advanced Institute for Computational Science. Ricoh itself of course grew out of the Riken research institute.

The plot thickens.
