I think it's a bit of symbolism ... Pentax is small and playful (the Q), Ricoh is big and serious (the 645). So if the new company is to the old Pentax as the Q is to the 645, then we'll have much to be pleased about.

P.S. I've also noticed that there's no giraffe in this image. Which is a shame, because there's plenty of white space, and giraffes are beautiful animals, don't you think?

OMMG, the speculations on these forums are EPIC. Where does everything come from?

One epic specualtion, probably caused 10 pages or something: DA* 55 1,4 hood was discontinued, guess what happened? An FF thread.

I've almost had enough, been following it since some months before I registered. ))

Yes..

Official statement from Ricoh :

"Ricoh officially de-associates itself from Pentax K-mount cameras esp. K5 and will no longer be liable for warranty issues and class action lawsuits. "

Man!

Its just a photo.
Composition is excellent!
It forms a perfect dis-harmonious balance between two subjects, creating tension and hence capturing the viewers attention......
Not to mention that it has a hidden meaning when you look at the picture upside down, combining the silhouettes of both cameras... its seems to form the sharp of another camera.....
Then again, if I take their combined volumes and divide it by the 'perfect ratio' it seems to hint at the date of the new mirrorless Pentax....

I found another thing: if we take "Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd." and perform enough mathematical operations on it, we'll eventually get 666

As in there is no direct access to the special site for the K5 from this splash screen.

I didn't say it wasn't there.

I think reading anything into the image is stupid but equally one would expect to see a K-mount DSLR there. It's odd that it isn't there.

Maybe the DSLRs are going to be Ricoh Pentax cameras, like the Asahi Pentax or Honeywell Pentax cameras from the film days.
