No no, this is definitely a signal: no GXR no K-mounts, no Optios, no binoculars, no solar panels, no giraffes, no athletes, no nudes, no cars, no cattle-prods, no warships. PRICL is definitely a luzer. Sell! Sell!

[/me packs the hookah with another big load of dried banana peels]
[/me relights, inhales, peers into smoke for more signs]
[/me exhales]

Hay, maybe PRICL printed that image just to mess with the heads of speculators, eh? "Let's see how the crazies respond to THIS one, heh heh heh." Some of those marketing wonks are pretty twisted, y'know.

Pentax's japanese site is showing this picture! Don't you think there is something missing on it?
Perhaps Ricoh doesn't want their good name to be associated with the K5.

I think it's a bit of symbolism ... Pentax is small and playful (the Q), Ricoh is big and serious (the 645). So if the new company is to the old Pentax as the Q is to the 645, then we'll have much to be pleased about.
Sorry! I didn't know there was a Ricoh 645!

P.S. I've also noticed that there's no giraffe in this image. Which is a shame, because there's plenty of white space, and giraffes are beautiful animals, don't you think?
No, I don't!!!

I am serious. If I was Ricoh, i would not mention K-5. Not a good move.

Don't feel bad. There wasn't a Ricoh 645 until a few days ago.

Oh, come on! You can't be serious. You're way over-thinking this. The K-5 is a great (but not perfect) camera.

They only seem to be showing the camera side of their business in that picture. The ceramics division looks so interesting. I mean, how cool is a material that you can implant in the body to repair damage and instead of being stuck with a metal plate your whole life, it reabsorbs and natural bone grows over it. Clicking that "Other division | new ceramics products" link on the products page was a real eye opener. To me, that stuff is more exciting than any camera or lens they've come out with yet.
As much as I'm rooting for them though, I don't think I'll be buying any time soon. At least hopefully not until Canon and Nikon have taken notice and force Sigma and Tamron into that market as well.

Obviously they're hinting that there's a new product about to be released and why the photo is weighted to the left. But that would only be preaching to the converted wouldn't it? Non-Pentax users wouldn't necessarily know there's meant to be another product range in the middle of these two.

When did they discontinue rhinos and polar bears? I do not think giraffes will ever repalce a full frame rhino

The only thing it says to me is that the 645D (like the analog 645) is an ugly camera from the subject's point of view. Other than that, wild speculations about Ricoh's agenda because of the cameras pictured or not pictured in a single advertisement are rather useless...
