The present German subsidiary of Pentax ("PENTAX IMAGING DEUTSCHLAND GmbH") has officially informed its registered customers about the takover of the PENTAX Imaging Systems Division by the multinational company RICOH. The newletter announces the new German company "PENTAX RICOH IMAGING DEUTSCHLAND GmbH" has been founded, which "will continue to promote the digital camera business of the recognized, successful brand PENTAX".
If they haven't been caught in the subtleties of the German language - and regarding the legal mumbo-jumbo in the signation - the existing company was not just renamed, but presently both companies do exist (the newsletter was sent by the old company).
As the announcement was addressed personally to me, I feel entitled to quote it (for German speakers):
vorantreiben.

Strangely enough, the link to the Pentax products shows the 645D, K7, K-x, and Q, but does not mention the K5 or K-r. It seems they used an outdated advertisment, but then the Q?
