Just a thought, could all these snap shot/low standard images be coming from the new Pentax Q ???

First shot = Yes, nice capture, I love the lighting coming through the trees etc... could use a slight crop to take out the cell tower or whatever that is in the top.
Second shot.. another boat on the same river.. decent enough, but not as nice as the first IMO.. so why not choose your best from your own shots and submit ONE of these shots..
Third shot.. REALLY??
I agree. The first shot is really nice although the title is funny, especially in this context. As for the second shot, some people should realize that great photographers are not necessarily the ones who take always great pictures but rather the one who knows when they hit gold. Releasing the missed shots just lessen the value of the good shots.

The third shot is... well... some people don't seem to have the same definition of what is a gallery as most of us.

It has nothing to do with the camera. Some people make wonders with an iPhone. And some will produce crap with a Leica S2.

Yes thats true, but my point is still relevant.

Old PPG > No Q images being submitted . The good/bad ratio was alot lower.

New PPG> Q images now being submited . Now the good/bad ratio is huge.

What Im suggesting is that there could be a large new influx of "artist's" who just bought the Q and just signed up for PPG, not knowing the kind of standards to submit.

Still, its just speculation and theorys.

Has anyone got ptoblems trying to upload pics to the new PPG?

It keeps sending me back to the start of the upload process ....

Tried: 900 pixels high .... no go!
Tried: 1000 pixels high ... no go!
tried: 850 pixels high ... no go!
The pic is JPEG, as requested.

I know how to upload pics to PPg "of the past" but now ... ?

Anyone?

JP

The good thing about the new voting page is that the cursor stays hovered over the thumbs down.
The bad thing about it is that I almost gave one of my earlier submissions a thumbs down.

.... I've just kept my cursor over the "thumbs down" for over 125 photos just a while back, then the site froze ! Mind you, I did give thmbs up for a couple though.

How did you get to vote on your own pic?

JP

Edit: Of those which I gave the thumbs down included, but not restricted to:

- OOF flower in the middle of the frame
- hoverfly "hovering" half way into the frame ... parts of the fly cut off and OOF
- a patch of OOF water
- a "portrait" without the eyes of the subject, overexposed and .... well there is no subject for protrait.
- part of a B/W OOF dragonfly
- Machu Picchu in sepia and ... OOF

... whoever said that the ratio of bad:good (or vice-versa ?) had gone up is absolutely right.
I am now very much afraid to upload more pictures to PPG for fear of finding my shots OOF when they are not or simply, and perhaps well deserved, rejected altogether.
This can't be right though: how can so many photos be,or seem to be, OOF !??

I don't know why they were there, but they were. Some kind of glitch I guess.
So far I've voted on four of my photos that I uploaded before the site closed down for the summer. I know their the old ones because I gave some of the new uploads of the same image.different titles.
I assumed that since they were no longer in my "waiting for approval" line-up, that they were lost.

Ps. My old photos didn't seem to loose any sharpness.

All of my photos have now disappeared from the gallery. I am beyond angry. They better "fix" this or provide some sort of explanation. The only photos left are the last few I submitted months ago and they show up in the "declined" section. None of my previously accepted or recently submitted photos show up at all.
