Apparently there wasn't room in the cage for the guy that took that photo!

perhaps a waterproof replaceable lens system or a 4/3 cameraphone. and if you want a 100% since-fiction script a flexible element lens...
BTW if any of things happen I am probably just dreaming

the gap may well be a FF unit that does not have video. Kodak just announced a new 16MP FF CCD sensor. No video possible there, but the potential for better image quality. Maybe it will be a compact photographers FF without video but excellent image quality coming in below the big 2 by several hundred dollars
I'd be lined up, i don't use the video for more than fooling around anyway and if i was serious about it there are more dedicated options

and relaunching the E Pro series as a FF option

Actually I could see it happening at some point, but if I was shopping i'd wait until they were in chapter 11 due to criminal cases and pick them up cheaper than Pentax

Add more fire to discuss...

Kodak has announced new CCD sensors, a 16mp 35mm full frame sensor (8 fps) with 7.4um pixels and a 16mp APS-H sensor (8 fps) with 5.5um pixels on November, 7.

I was seeing it the other way... Olympus focusing on M43 and smaller while Pentax focuses on APS-C and larger. I'd love me some Pentax primes on the Pens and the Zuiko zooms on the K-5. Constant F2.0 FTW!

Yes, that would be interesting, eh? Olympus, a Ricoh company. I can see it now. But how will they excise the yakuza-mafiya infiltration? And will Zuikos be renamed as Yakuzars or something? From Takumar to Yakumar, whatever.

But Kodak just sold their sensor division, so these won't really be Kodak sensors, they'll be Platinum Equity sensors or whatever. Or will the new owner just flip the division, selling it to... Ricoh? Hmmm, THAT would be a clean way for Pentax to cut loose from dependence on Sony, eh? Vertical integration -- isn't that what Ricoh does with their business machines?

Stay tuned for the next thrilling non-sequiteur.

Why would we ever want to cut loose from Sony? Sony is absolutely killing it in the sensor world right now. The sensor in the K-5 is essentially the best sensor ever made...

That's fine -- as long as Sony sensors are available. Prudent management would plan for the possibility that outsourced components may not always be available, that having in-house fab might be essential for survival. Single-source suppliers are always risky. I don't know how much of Sony's sensor fab is submerged in Thailand, but I'll bet that all Sony's customers are looking for second sources right now.

That is about to change very shortly, this new Kodak sensor is going to make everything else seem like it was taken on a Holga. Mark my words, when DxO reviews it, every pixel-peeper on the internet will want one. The question is will they be willing to give up video and live view to do it? The answer in many cases will be 'no', and that's the shame of it. I hope Pentax will release a FF that puts IQ above all the frills like they did with the 645D.
