New Pentax Administrative Offices, Denver, Colorado

I visited the latest administrative offices, recently moved to downtown Denver, yesterday. I've posted a few photos here;

This building is located at 633 17th Street, the Northeast corner of 17th and California streets. The office is on the 26th floor, suite 2600.
Please note that these are the admin offices only, both repairs and warehouse operations are at different locations.
Since they just moved (from Boulder, Colorado) in October 2011, the space isn't fully set up and there was no receptionist on duty when I arrived. But two of the Admin staff were kind enough to greet me and took the time to answer my many questions.
There was no formal "Tour" but they did walk me through a conference room, other offices and allowed me to take photos of the reception area. They showed me the latest "Q" camera and we discussed the differences between their former space in Boulder and the earlier location in Englewood, Colorado many years ago.
I was told that visitors are welcome, but it is best to call or e-mail first to make sure someone is available to escort you around.
If your travel plans include Colorado, be sure to call and stop by here! It's just a block off the 16th street (free) shuttle and right in the heart of downtown Denver.
No, they didn't share any trade secrets or new product "insider" news, but it was a very enjoyable visit.

No, they didn't offer me a free K-5, but being the humble sort, of course I would have refused it anyway.

But it's definitely worth the trip, if you're in town.

Actually, it was Golden Colorado they moved from, not Boulder.

Let's get all the Denver Pentaxians together and "occupy" it. For no particular reason, but that's what the kids are doing these days.

PENFRED, you're right, it was in Golden until this fall. I guess I had Boulder on my mind because one of the things we talked about was the scarcity of B+W (and film in general) developing in town. I mentioned Mike's Camera, they develop film at the Boulder store.
In fact I visited the Golden location, once. But they had no sales offices or repairs (unlike the old Tech Center location, where I got some real deals!).
Jackseh, I don't know if photos are normally allowed, they did let me take a few. If you're going to visit I'd suggest calling first and asking them. I wasn't particularly well-equipped for an indoor "shoot" and had to use the on-camera flash, resulting in some shots with the shadow of the DA 16-45mm lens hood in the frame. A hot-shoe flash would have been better suited.
VonBaloney, there is an "Occupy Denver" contingent camped out in Civic Center Park, along with many homeless folks. Not many of them appear to be photography buffs, though! If I run into any other Denver Pentaxians, I'll bring your idea up.

Yeah, I know -- I see them all the time. I go to the Central Library a lot -- I live just a mile or two away around Cheesman Park.

A small bit of good news regarding the Pentax USA H.Q., here in Denver. While the offices are listed in the building directory, there hasn't been any 'outside' notification that it's in the building. There is a chrome sign outside, but it doesn't list all the (many) business located in the two towers.
But, who needs to be on that dinky sign anyway, when you can have this;
Yep, in big, bold lettering, and it doesn't say "Ricoh" anywhere.
It's a start! Now, if they'd only get the cameras into some major local stores, that would be a real sign.

Well that's really good news. Simple, seemingly meaningless things like signage go a long, long way toward establishing credibility.

I agree, any publicity, advertisement or sign keeps the name and company 'viable' and current in the public's mind.
And, this corner, 17th and California, is a major downtown stop for the light rail train. Thousands of riders go by each workday and many more pedestrians, plus the auto and bus traffic. With the exception of the 16th street mall, this is one of the most travelled streets in the city.
Hmmm..I see a 'space for rent' next to the sign. Maybe a Pentax outlet store?

My wife and daughter were in Denver last week visiting the Colorado History Museum archives doing some research into her pioneer family, then on to visit a friend in Wyoming (I had a pressing work project and couldn't go). Coming from St. Louis, the westernmost of the late 19th C. dirty industrial cities and quite beyond its prime now, they were very impressed with Denver and its cleanliness, laid-back nice residents and all-around welcoming atmosphere. Had I been able to go I would have let them read old wills and letters and made my way downtown for a visit to HQ.

Thanks for sharing, that's encouraging.

While I like the B&W "Pentax" logo scheme on packaging a lot, I think the original "PENTAX red" would work better for outdoor use as this one.

Does "PENTAX red" still exist?
