Price for bodies dropping here in Manila. FINALLY. But well, lens prices all stayed the same. Just as the K-5 II arrived, the K-5 Classic, K-01 and Q went down by around 20 to 25% or more off their previous price a few weeks ago. It's around:

(USD equivalent)
K-5/c = $1073 from $1353
Q = $414 from $707
K-01 = $463 from $878
K-30 = $780 from $1024
K-r = $421 from $609

Still cheaper to fly to Singapore and buy there. What a pity Pentax is overpriced in the country in which they are now made.

On the other hand, Tanduay 15 YO compares very well (smoother, though less robust) to the highly-acclaimed Havana Club 7 YO, for.... 10% of the price!

This is a recent revelation, not being a big rum drinker (except when I'm in the Philippines).

Why are we re-using last year's Black Friday thread? Can't we have a fancy new Black Friday IIs thread, or did Hoya fail to get development underway in time?

Hi Adam. Is the 30% off offer from Topaz Labs still valid? The link redirects to the Adjust product page. Do you have a promo code from them?

Thanks,

D.

I'm confused. Why are we talking about last year's Black Friday on this year's Mottled Tuesday? And why is Adam posting in this thread instead of closing it? And should we assume that it will perpetuate until Y3K?

Whilst I ponder these grave issues, I believe that a Hobgoblin is in order.

Here in Denmark the K5 has been $1000 for the last 2 months or so,but lenses are way overpriced..funny how Pentax decides what countries get what prices`.. the K5II is $1166 here,so probably pick one up when it arrives

I don't think Pentax decides very much; that's part of the problem. From New Zealand to the Philippines to Hong Kong and Denmark, it seems the dealers are free to run riot with pricing, harming potential sales along the way...

^ Agreed. I have no idea how they're managing international pricing in different countries. Too many things for their Japan-based management teams to consider, perhaps?

The first Pentax product on AmazonUK's Black Friday Deals Week 2012 is K-01 with 40mm Pancake. It'll start at 5:30pm (UK time) today and the current price is 432.99. Usually there is an extra 20-30% off

Thanks Stan.

It is confusing to have a time-sensitive thread open for comments a year later. It should have been closed long time ago.

Was in a large camera shop here in HK today. EVERY camera on a branded display stand... Nikon, Canon. Olympus, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Casio, Fuji, the LOT.

Except one... A couple of forlorn Pentax cameras were there, but they weren't backed by their manufacturer or distributor.

I think Hoya's marketing strategy was to create some sort of mystique by not acknowledging publicly that Pentax existed.
