So what are you going to buy?

With all the new gear coming out, bodies and lenses... what are you going ot buy first? Will you opt for the new bodies if they are in fact readily available next month (or there abouts) or will you wait for the new glass coming out? Personally I think I will be opting for the glass.

Well, for me it's the camera bodies... sorry, I cannot give a timeline. Now NDA kicks in...

Regarding lenses: I already have the glass I want/need for right now... Well, almost everything... still plan on getting a super telephoto for sure , and anything else I might "need"...

Cheers,
Marc

I've just put in an order for a K10D, amazing price and does what I need for the moment. Pretty happy with my lens lineup right now. (I can cover 8 - 300mm with my glass).

About to order big on what counts the most, lighting gear! , Monolights, lightmeter, diffusers etc. Stuff that will work on any system

My plan is the new DA* 300 f4.0 as soon as it is available. Maybe the DA* 200 also. If the new 20d or what ever has 5fps that will be one the list also.

Vivitar 285 flash any day now.

18-250 as soon as it hits $400

K20D as soon as it hits $1,000

Already updated my computer to handle the larger files.

Maybe the newer body - next year. And a Sigma 600mm f8 mirror if I can find one.

My money is going towards glass, flash and accessories. That's the end of the kit I need to round out so that I can handle any situation that comes at me. The K10D does me fine right now.

I'd rather not say, just in case that partial sponsorship doesn't happen
There's 1 hoop in the way, and it's a big one.

Well, that's about $3000 + whatever else you're saving for. At least that camera store you work for is throwing a lot of money your way.

I think ill stick to glass till my K10 blows up. Love shooting manual but i hate lugging the 'ol legends around the street. 35 limited looks like a good lens to have along with the 21 and 70 for a solid street kit (wish that new 55 was a pancake).

Right now, I'm thinking glass. That may change depending on features (e.g., ISO) of the high-end body. Shooting sports in low-light and capturing wildlife begs for the extra stops.

I'll keep dreaming of the A*/FA* tele glass that cost as much as my first car.

If the new camera has a significant improvement in AF speed (both low light and tracking moving subjects) to make it comparable to competitors (40D and/or D300), then I'd probably get a new body and perhaps the new 60-250 F/4 lens over the following months. Otherwise, I might just get that lens. I must say if the K20d doesn't have significant AF improvement over the K10d, it would shake my faith in the whole Pentax system a little bit.
