Wow - what a feeding frenzy on the K-5 today!

I'm seeing posts all over the forum of K-5 purchases including a few new forum members.

Although impossible, I get to wondering just how many were ordered just from the news/posts on our forum today.

It also came to mind if either B&H or Adorama would run out of stock with this frenzy.

Mine is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday.

Now we will likely see a glut of K20D's, K10D's etc on the Marketplace.

Hmmm, another good reason to hold on to my K20D as a backup.

B&H is extending this deal until tomorrow, and they have informed me that they have dozens in stock still!

Hope I clicked through properly to Adorama for this deal so the forum gets a wee bit of a benefit too. I do wonder, when all the dust settles, how many forum members will have purchased K-5s during these <$1k sales? As a secondary issue, I also wonder how many members remembered to click through from here to purchase?

As I said earlier in the thread, after the dust settles I'm sure we'll have a good 100 new K-5 owners

I couldn't take it anymore! I caved and purchased a new K-5! The gift card deal from Adorama was the kicker - thanks bcmjr for the info on that. Even my wife couldn't argue with such a good deal.

Spend $150 with Adorama and receive a Adorama $10 gift card

This is a bit of agony for me .. to extend the sale. Earlier today I put the K-5 in my cart, but then changed and picked up (via B&H) the Olympus E-Pl3 with a Panasonic 20mm lens -- figuring my K-r was still great, and the E-PL3 is so small I can literally carry it with me every day.

But leaving the K-5 on sale for a second day. ... that is tough.

All great cameras- you should get both, see which sits with you best and then return the other.

Thanks to all the helpful posters here over the years. After hanging with my K100D for years, waiting for the one shot upgrade, I got the Amazon deal at #31 on the wait list. I've been "trolling" here for years, and just joined to say thanks to a great community.

Welcome TDA and all the new K-5 owners.
As a fairly new member here I have learned much from the community in the past year and found it very helpful and friendly with rare exception.

Since these great deals on the K-5 will undoubtedly bring a number of new owners into the community I would remind myself and all our wonderful members here to have patience, be friendly and not assume that folks will have deep knowledge of the brand or the camera's workings just because they are lucky enough to own the flagship model.

We should also not assume they are familiar with our humor and teasing that makes this place fun.

(I bring it up because I saw a slight bit of this misunderstanding in another thread and hope we continue to earn the great reputation that this forum has.)

Enjoy your new K-5 everyone!

The big story on the front page about the $999 deal continuing on through Tuesday is unfortunately not valid. I have been to the site 2 times and the cart shows $1,199 for body-only. I also chatted with a sales associate online to see if there was something I was missing. He said that current pricing is shown in the cart. I though I was going to save $200. Instead I just saved more like $1,600 (gotta have a lens or 2, too).

that's right, I also checked now and seems like it was for a limited stock only.

Both Buy.com and Amazon still have the K-5 for $999.99 Amazon says they only have 5 left (as of 4:50 PM EST) Buy.com is selling theirs thru Prodigital 2K.

NaCl(the Buy.com offer is nice for those of us in NY as there is no sales tax on it)H2O
