Wow! Glad that I saw this on FB this evening. I was going to order one from Adorama this weekend. I guess it will be Monday now. I currently use a K20D with a K10D or K100DSuper. I will be glad to have the K5 for my vacations this coming year in the Tucson, AZ area, Okinawa, Japan, and Hawaii.

I've had my K5 for about 6 months and so far only problem with it is occasional hunting with focus in low light. I've heard that 1.11 firmwear might help with that. But I just switch to manual focus in low light.
You've evidently had a bad experience with a K5 to be bad mouthing it so much. If so, I'm sorry for you, but the majority of K5 owners here are very happy with theirs

The K-5, body only as in the case here, has been available in Canada for $999-$1099 for over a month or more now from many camera stores. Buy with your VISA/Mastercard and you get 1 extra year on your warranty at no cost.

Had my K5 for nearly a year. Taken photos in the pouring rain, through heavy snow, in wind chills below 0 degrees for hours, in the Arizona desert heat above 100 degrees most of the day.
Its been dropped from a few feet (bad tripod mount). During dog photography; its been licked, bit and drooled on.
Not a single bit of down time from the K5.

Its as solid and stable of a camera as I, or anyone else I know, has ever owned.

Almost makes me tempted to buy a 2nd K5. But, I think I'll wait to see what will be the new flagship body for Pentax. But sure is tempting to sell the Kx and replace it

Dennis
Just what I was thinking. My K-5 needs to go into the shop (bad top LCD) and very occasional unwanted multiple shots, and I often shoot with two bodies anyway. Now it's the K-5 and a red K-X (which I really don't want to part with) or perhaps my old K10D in suspect weather. Indoors the K-X sensitivity makes it more useful than the K10D.

If I could just get a purple K-5 .......

PS: I'm tempted toward a purple K-r but the prices for the colored models are collectors' prices, not photographers' prices.

Special K-r colors are supposed to be available at Wal-Mart soon. No idea what the price will be yet though.

Decisions...decisions...

I currently have the DA 16-45 f4 which I really like - thinking I should just get the body and forgo the 18-55 WR lens.

Any compelling arguments about the 18-55 WR? I want to make my mind up before I start finding this Cyber Monday deal - I have a feeling that these deals might be a very limited quantity and want to be able to pull the trigger quickly.

Edit to add: just answered my own question - I can buy the 18-55 WR lens by itself for $150 shipped - not such a deal to buy it with the body for an additional $200!

If I was going to jump on this deal, I think I'd nab the deal from Amazon because I'll get my 2 day shipping free via Amazon Prime.

Amazon has started early, and there is a list of camera gear in the "Cyber Monday Store" - no K-5 yet.

Here is the current list:

Then if you look in the "lightning deal" box, it shows that there is an upcoming deal on a Canon ditigal SLR coming in 5 hours ....minutes....etc.

Myself, if they are going to have the K-5 as one of those "lightening deals" where you have to wait and be there at a certain time, I will just as soon order from Adorama. I was going to order from Amazon simply for the fact I have an Amazon store card and can get 12 months interest free financing with that - but I am not going to play games to get it from them.

It's alive at Adorama!

Just placed my order with Adorama - $999.95 w/free shipping.
I added the 2 year warranty also.

And I remembered to click through Adam's link so the forum should get a couple cents.

Done deal - I'll sleep good tonight!
