Pentax research of image stabilisation tracks back to the mid 70's, they have many patents in this field. For some years ago I collected all I could find. (strange way to spend an afternoon, well well haha).
Integrated optical stabilisation in compact cameras for film, but also optical paths in stand-alone solutions.
Add-on device with optical stabilisation (makes a TC with IS possible).
And other tricks.
In some patents, Pentax uses the term "image shake absorption" unit (ISA). There were also another term, but I don't remember it now. Hmm...
There were also patents for communication of ISA lenses with "KAF3" lens mount.

If Pentax wants to make optical IS, they can do it.
