No, the PowerZoom/SDM contacts are just Power contacts and nothing else.
You could imagine whatever you wanna power with those.

The SDM functionnality works (just as PowerZoom did) with the digital info pin.

Hm, like a kettle with K-mount? Or that would perhaps be T-mount? Hahaha....

Damn, now they missed a great opportunity to warm photographers in cold climates.
There's nothing like a good hot T-mount with a bit of ginger when one awaits capturing the dawn.

K20D / K200D name almost official?

There were some doubts (see below) about the actual model name of the new cameras, but henerik spotted that Pentax has just registered the domain names K20D.jp and K200D.jp . Nice work for his first post here!

Ben has created some doubts in this post:

Who ever said it was called a K20D? I certainly did not...Perhaps K*D or K**D or K***D...But "20". Now that is jumping the gun me thinks...No?

Actually Pentax has patents for in lens stabilization in the last few months, but are only for P&S cameras.

Pentax research of image stabilisation tracks back to the mid 70's, they have many patents in this field. For some years ago I collected all I could find. (strange way to spend an afternoon, well well haha).
Integrated optical stabilisation in compact cameras for film, but also optical paths in stand-alone solutions.
Add-on device with optical stabilisation (makes a TC with IS possible).
And other tricks.

In some patents, Pentax uses the term "image shake absorption" unit (ISA). There were also another term, but I don't remember it now. Hmm...
There were also patents for communication of ISA lenses with "KAF3" lens mount.
Sorry, I don't have the links left... but it was an interresting - and largely confusing - read.

If Pentax wants to make optical IS, they can do it.

Whew. I really like SR in-body, thanks.

I'm sure they can. Pentax has some really great minds on their roster (er, payroll, sorry, I'm a sports nut, haha), though like I mentioned above, for the economically challenged like me, the in-body SR is better.
