Pentax probably has a mirror-less APS-C prototype. Pentax probably has a FF prototype. Pentax probably has a handful of lenses that have been designed, but have not been put into production. The screw drive system is still supported, so Pentax could put a lot of the old FA glass back in production with minimal cost.
They probably have had an FF camera in constant development since 2001.
I know they have FA* 150/2, FA 18/2.8 and an FA 90/3.5 Macro Limited in prototype forms. And most likely a lot more...

Like you said most of the light and not all of it, just wanted to make sure that was clear.

Sony lets 2/3 throught for the sensor and SLR will probably reflect more light but I don't have any numbers so i don't know actually hoe much it differs.
I was responding to the claim that an SLT can support an OVF. I'm not sure what was the thinking around that.

Was the FA* 150mm f/2 an AF lens? From the pictures I saw it looked like a MF. That lens would be very high on my list if it were to be put into production.

I think that if Ricoh gives the green light a FF DSLR could be in production Summer of 2012. All of the technology needed is already in production between the K-5 and 645D. The physical body would not need to be anything more than a morphed K-5. Keep the controls and menu system and you have a great camera.

Yes, but AF would still need some attention / R&D ...

For digital there is DFA which also offically support FF.
there are some DA lenses that also cover FF pretty well, DA*200 for example use the same design as FA*200 beside some redisgns often the longer focal legths work pretty well. It's only the wide angle that are problematic.
Here are the FF compatible references of today's Pentax catalogue :

1- smc FA 20mm-35mm F4 AL
2- smc FA J 28mm-80mm F3.5-5.6AL
3- smc FA 28mm-105mm F3.2-F4.5 AL [IF]
4- smc FA J 75mm-300mm F4.5-F5.8AL
5- smc FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited [Silver] & [Black]
6- smc FA 35mm F2 AL
7- smc FA 43mm F1.9 Limited [Silver] & [Black]
8- smc FA 77mm F1.8 Limited [Silver]& [Black]
9- smc D FA Macro 100mm F2.8 WR
10- smc D FA Macro 50mm F2.8
11- smc FA 50mmF1.4
12- smc DA55mm-300mm f/4-5.8
13- smc DA35mm f/2.4
14- smc DA*200mm f/2.8
15- smc DA*60-250mm f/4
16- smc DA*300mm f//4

+ never forget they can also "relaunch" production of any valuable other reference at anytime, as they did 2 years ago with 645D.
Of course, there would be need for new optical formulas with more SDM... but the collection is already quite rich for a succesfull launch !
Lots of FF lens discussion on this thread now.
I remind of this thread:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/31629-da-lens-...ts-thread.html

It would perfect if someone could test the DA*55 on film and let us now if it´s a stellar FF performer on large aperture or just a mediocre. I suggested to compare it to the Sigma 50/1,4 in that test so we will know if Pentax already has a real good fast fifty(five). I would consider to buy it already if that was the case.

FA* lenses are AF lenses. I've never seen pictures of it anywhere. I think you maybe mixing it up with the 645 telephoto prototype being shown...

Where have you heard or seen this? Sounds great, but it's the first I've heard about it...

A Pentax FF would probably have automatic/manual crop for all pentax lenses?

IMO, stop worry about your crop lenses.

Those are all FA and FA* lenses which indicates they are producing a FF SLR and possibly a SLT camera, but a mirrorless wouldn't be able to use lenses like these without an adapter, unless they intend to produce a mirrorless camera that still has the same flange as the pentax K-mount.

I think the AF system will need work, it will have to match what Canon had in the 1D MKIIN camera at the very least, though asking Pentax to match what Canon and Nikon have going at the moment might be a bit too much to ask.
I would also be looking for a 100% viewfinder with about .92X magnification should be possible, all they have to do is upscale the viewfinder optics from the K5.

These are about 10 years old lenses. The 18/2.8 was almost markered but was withdrawn at the last moment. The distributors had gotten product number for this lens but in never made it into production...

damn I would just love an FA 18mm f/2.8 - especially if it had the same build quality as the FA limited lenses.

That is probably what I am thinking of. It was a MF 150mm prototype that never made it into production.

On a FF body, it would be incredible, if optically solid. An aps-c equivalent lens would be a 12mm f1.8 prime.

The 150 f2 sounds magical as well.

Why do you need such a tiny DOF with ultra wide lens?
