I'm hoping for the option of disabling SDM.
There is a little handle on the side, just put it on MF

I think it must be lens correction algorithms for a set of brand new extreme telephoto lenses?

My guess would be manual video control. Autofocus issues seem to sporadic and random to be fixable at this point with an overall firmware fix. Pentax won't shut off SDM after all this time either.

No clue what this entails though I hope they added the low shutter metering issue in manual mode.

Don't take this wrongly please, but it definitely cracked me up to see someone post here about a post of mine on dpreview where I actually quoted this site to begin with. I used "PF" as a shortcut to PentaxForums as a pointer to the source and that may not have translated too well I guess.

Reminds me somewhat of an open mike singing around with feedback....hey! I am called Mike too...go figure!

LOL!

I wondered what PF meant, but since there was only a Pentax UK link, I figured it must have been some obscure term for that particular site.

Anyways, I agree with the irony in the circular logic between the source quotes and comments associated with this news(pure comedy).

on pentax.uk there was ver 1.12 for couple of days... but they have returned to version 1.11 yesterday. However they didnt returned to older version of the firmware.... the one you can download now is 1.11.23.19 the previous one is 1.11.23.15. Apparently somebody who is responsible for updating the pentax.uk website got a hint about new version and finally it turned out that this is just small change....

I believe on pentax.uk there was a non-functional link to fw ver 1.12 for a few days. AFAIK, the fw hasn't been available anywhere yet.

Those firmware download links are now active.

Correction: they went away -- I was fooled into clicking 1.11.

I just wanted to update everyone and say that Pentax has issued a fix for what I like to call the K-5 low light lock-up issue(explained here).

I just tested my K-5 both before and after, and I can confirm that they have indeed slip-streamed a FW fix in the FW 1.11 update.

I tested the issue all the way up to 20s and the camera now stops down flawlessly.

And so thank-you PENTAX/Ricoh!
You've made us manual lens shooters that much happier!

PS
. I also want to thank filorp for bringing to our attention that FW 1.11 was changed. - very helpful

It's nice that they're fixing bugs, but how can they think it's a good idea to have several different versions of the firmware with the same version number? It's not like it's expensive to increase it.
