CES is usually limited to P&S gear. I think Sony announced a dozen of them last year. Someone else 13. I would not expect pro or serious enthusiast equipment to be announced unless the manufacturer is driven by competition to catch up right now. But please see: PMA@CES

Fuji will announce their X camera next week, the interchangeable x100 type one... I sincerely hope Pentax announces something that'll blow the Fuji away and be worth waiting for...

PMA being at CES for the first time is why there will be some serious cameras announced usually pma would have been last spring and it was delayed until ces this year due to the tsunami

If it would be styled like this
http://www.petapixel.com/2012/01/03/the-first-full-photo-of-the-fujifilm-x1/
Or anything like the old LX body, it would be a sweet thing to behold, especially with an adapter for FA primes.

I hope too that some announcements will be made either by Ricoh or Pentax, preferably both in a coherent and strong/complementary market approach.
But i don't believe Pentax should adress the APS-C mirrorless market.
I don't want either Fuji's new offer to be blown by any Pentax or Ricoh novelty : there is enough choice in this segment now with GXR, Sony and Samsung offers...
There is much more "aura" and money to get in challenging Leica on the full-frame mirrorless market... and complete the existing offer with a K-mount FF slr.

Remember the "withdrawn new body announcement" in last november Paris' image fair on Pentax France's official site :
option 1 : Pentax is ready to disclose it yet, with the green light of Ricoh.
option 2 : the project has been frozen or even dumped away, and we might have to wait another few month, if not more, before any new product is advertised ...

option 3 - it was withdrawn due to sensor supply issues and now can be announced with an estimated street date in line with returning sensor supplies

If that is what the Fuji ends up looking like then it will be a huge hit out of the gate (hopefully after the struggle with availability on the X100 at the beginning they will be ready this time)

With PMA being combined with CES I would hope something in still photography to be announce along with the CES stuff. I would expect the K-r replacement to be announced at PMA/CES in January. Then in February at CP+ a K-5 replacement. Then at one of those shows a K-mount GXR modual.

Then in the fall at Photokina some big things will be announce. Maybe a new GXR body with built-in EVF. Maybe a updated 645D. Maybe even FF.

Apparently Nikon did not take my guidance or the D4 is not pro/enthusiast equipment.

Not long now!
I've decided to only look at FF compatible lenses this year,(i.e. DFA 100, Tamron 28-75) mostly as I want to shoot more film but then is more hope of FF in the future, no biggie though
Always love CES as I have always worked in the industry, would love to go there each year, great that PMA is there too this year.

Interesting to see the following Pentax 'Brands' mentioned in the preview for CES 2012.

QuoteQuote:
PENTAX, K Series digital slrs, 645D, Optio
Here is the link: 2012 CES: Exhibitor Directory - PENTAX RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION

Dare we hope for a 'K' mount lens map?
