Careful I never even shot film, and I 'crave' the look. I guess 'crave' is the wrong word - I appreciate it, enjoy it in my photography at times. It effectively expands the aperture range of my lenses, and I'm all about the lenses.
.
That just means you are a "purist wannabe" J... LOL

Thing is, you have stated a sensible reason for wanting FF... expanding the capabilities of your lenses... rather than proclaiming that "anything other than 35mm form factor produces "snapshots" (because I don't like the way OOF elements are treated!)"

While it's true that 6x7 compresses the bokeh more than FF, the effect or the look I'm talking about (though less pronounced on FF) can still be discerned on FF given the right lenses.
So what you are saying in effect is that there is something magical, mythical, mystical; magnificent, mysterious, and marvelous about a 24x36mm sensor. Decreasing sensor size below that yields a corresponding decrease in image quality, yet increasing the size has no benefit.
Who would have thought that an image area established some 80 +- years ago for film would turn out to be the only size capable of producing a decent quality digital image?

I didn't know you were a dentist. Your pics aren't pedestrian enough to shoot with an M9 and a summicron

editt : BTW that is the largest (non production) cmos, but a large format guy had an 8x10 ccd sensor (actually 2) built to replace his polaroid back. only 10mp though....but then again it's just a proofing back before he shoots on film
cost well lets say a good size pre crash house in a premium neighbourhood

You need to work on your reading comprehension skills, Homer.

This thread is going out of control. I knew that post #93 was flamebait from the beginning, and I quickly reported it to the moderators. I knew this was going to escalate into a flame war. I've had enough, and I want this thread locked.

I tried to like your post for this, but apparently I've liked too many of your posts. In any event +1. I keep wanting to unsubscribe, but I can't.

Likely medium or large format, considering the age of the photograph (note the horseback rider).
