Someone has already posted this, but I'll just reinforce:

JP WHOIS /JPRS

K100d.jp, the registrar name is not the same. "PENTAX Corporation".

Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn't. I'm just sick of hearing things about the machines. Could you all please not post in this part of the forum until the 24th? Just 20 days left!

Maybe it is because there no Pentax Corporation but only Hoya Corporation. And Pentax is only Hoya division now? I don't know, it's just a guess.

Actually, enjoy it while you can. From previous experience, once the actual specs or samples images are released, even though many users would be very excited; at the same time, you will start seeing many ranting and whining in various forums (and ur hmm blogs..) - "Why did they not include this?" "Pentax has dropped the ball." "Pentax has shot itself in the foot." "I am going to jump ship." "I don't believe they did this." so on and so forth

I've done simple PINGs and found that they all were resolved into the same IP!

Or at least they thought it worth the $10 to protect those names.

Looks like k2d.jp has been registered by an outfit (k2brains wristwatch mfg) that owns k2b.jp

'b' and 'd' must look very similar to a Japanese person. They probably registered it on visual grounds.

Well, I can see this. However, it occurs to me that...maybe if you didn't hang out in the RUMORS sub-forum? Just a thought...

Incorrecto-mundo. Pentax Corporation shall continue to exist (albeit as a subsidiary) until March 31, 2008. It will not officially become a division of Hoya until the Japanese fiscal year begins, on April 1st.

Unfortunately, I think that K200D has no AF adjusting in menu and has old AF system.
A bit improved. Maybe. But not NEW. And not better.
If it happens, it would be failure.
I hope I am wrong.

The main problems of Pentax's bodies is AF. IMO.
And it's strange, because Pentax film bodies worked very well. Not worse than another brand.
K200D without better AF - I don't need such camera.
I didn't buy K10D, 'cos all my friends has any AF problems with K10D.

All your friends have strange cameras.
Is the AF perfect, no way. But compared to the istD (and I beleive the DS is about the same AF-wise) it is way better.
