I think it's not fake. A lot of various pictures from various sources.
Anyway, if K200D will has pentaprism - it could be great upgrade for almost ALL rest users of *ist DS/DL. The grip for right hand is classical, like K10D, not K100D. It's PLUS for me.

Hmm, looks very promising. Provided it's got at least a 6 RAW buffer and (hopefully) the prism finder I'm interested as a backup/light carry camera (I do miss the DS for its wonderful small size).

I'm thinking dust sealing here, rather than fully splashproof like the K10D. It would still be a first, as the only dust-sealed bodies on the market today are the 40D and A700.
Forget the prism. Pentamirror will be. I do not think this is easy to do (financially I mean, regarding selling price).

Yes, it's just a Penta-mirror finder from what I can see from the photo. It looks just exactly the same as my K100D.

Not a problem. I have O-ME53. It's important to make cameras close to ideal with small weakness.
If they can do it, I will be happy. My DS is very simple camera, but I have no any problems.
Pentax had a lot of time to make WELL TUNED new cameras. K200D could be good tool for amateurs. Sv + green button + RAW button + AA grip + more MP + bigger buffer + ?...

If Pentax really offer new AA - battery grip for K200D, it will be very good step to upgrade 1 000 000 users of DS. IMO. Small size. Good grip for right hand. AA.
And another things what amateur needs.

Mmm the camera taking AA and the grip taking a DLI-50/NP-400 is also a possibility.

I doubt that Pentax would go with AA's again after the K10D.

A Lithium battery is so much handier in a grip, and it's a lot lighter too.

Dont forget the K200D is supposed to be an entry model. The body has already increased in size, I don't think many newcomers like the idea of lugging more extra weight around...

Well the K200D does use 4xAA, just look at the published pictures.

Concerning the grip and looking at the very moderate height of itcompared to the K10D grip, I expect it to use 4xAA as well. Just hope the battery jauge will be better than previous models.

I'm in the market for a small camera. The K200D's looking good so far. If it comes to pass that it will be sealed and they maintain the high ISO advantage of the older K100D, then they have a winner on their hands.

As for the other stuff, I'm guessing pentamirror, a slightly bigger buffer, 3-4 FPS, and no idea about the AF system or if it would have better metering.

The green button's also a big thing for me. Let's hope the price stays honest.

As far as I know (no I did not sign anything)
  • 3fps (until card full?)
  • bigger buffer
  • 10Mpix from the K10D but different electronic which means better noise than K10D. As good as K100D? Can't tell :'(
  • Sealed

I'm not sure that sealed. But, in Russia a lot of users want DS with 10 Mp.
Me too.
I looked one more time at right hand grip of K200D - it's close to DS, than to K100D or K10D.

I'm going out on a linguistic limb here - but would "spekulatius" be something similar to English word "speculation"?

According to the internet that word means German Spiced Christmas Cookie. ;-)

"Speculation" in German is "Betrachtung".

LOL

Oh if one looks well enough at the battery door of the K200D grip it clearly is the same design as the ist-D grip which makes me think it indeed takes a tray of 4xAA cells.
